Antonio French ? @AntonioFrench Follow We've had an officer involved shooting in St. Louis City. Here at the scene to keep the crowd calm & find out exactly what happened. #peace

Agree. I'm also sure if they had a "community support team" and would strong arm the citizens more, it would not solve the hatred for police. That only keeps it toned down more.

And they will riot because all he had was a knife, why did you have to kill him? couldn't you just taze him or tear gas him?

Even if this goes to trial, no way Cops lawyer allows it to go to trial in City Federal Courts building(federal charges).
I would have to think they try to move this to Springfield or another heavily conservative area with a Federal courts building.
I suspect you're right, but it's not like the Federal Court in St. Louis is liberal/anti-cop. It is still an extremely conservative venue, just not as conservative as St. Louis County because it draws its jurors from not just St. Louis County, but St. Louis City, Jefferson County, Franklin County St. Charles County and more I'm sure without looking it up.
And let's not beat around the bush. Eastern District...you may end up with 1 at most 2 minorities, which is different than St. Louis City state court where it's just the opposite. Move it to Springfield and you're less likely to get minorities on the jury.

They're removing the underground gas tanks at the QT. I didn't even think of that possibility.
Why?

No. It's not.
The short version bc we are way off topic and I could go for days on this if you had a clue. Dr's can raise prices and they do to make up for cuts in reimbursement and insurance premiums. In a regular business model, this would equal lack of business but in healthcare, consumers are ill-informed and the majority have no clue what the Dr's/Hospital's competitor charges. I think your point would work with most business although I still think this isn't going to be a fix for police since privatization isn't an option.

this whole mess is one small incident away from becoming something so much bigger.

City knows how to play the game. Ferguson take note. They got it out there from the get go that it was a robbery and a knife involved. Don't let people fester and stew on it. City got experience in that game.

I got no problem with them holding vigils, marching, protesting, demanding answers, making sure that things aren't just swept under the rug. If you wait until after it's swept under the rug, all the protesting in the world likely won't bring justice.
I am partially with you, however the main players in this charade have been very outlandish in their comments (how many times have we heard the word 'murder'). They don't want justice; they want what they perceive to be justice regardless of the facts as there mind is made up. They can call the cop a murderer and pull in all the racist innuendo they want and get a free pass. They can say as Jesse Jackson said that at least he and his ilk are only here because of the white on black dynamic. They can say as the mother did the violence wont stop until the cop is arrested.
That significantly blurs the line between protest for justice and answers and vendetta and other agendas. That blurs the line between peaceful protesters and violence (since the main players make comments that link the two).

What I have a problem with is the violence. All of the other things can be done in a peaceful manner without the violence.
Agreed. I just don't think there is the bright line between bad and good. I think the good are doing plenty to enflame the bad (along with the way the cops handled it)... but if we blame the cops for enflaming, we surely have to blame the main players on the other side for their comments.
quote:
The net result could end up being the cop being exonerated and I still don't have a problem with people voicing their concerns or distrust or anger, even if I disagree with them, as long as it's peaceful.
And unfortunately I think we all know what is likely to transpire in that scenario. Ofcourse hoping the betterment of people prevail but what I have seen the past 10 days does not give me optimism.

But there would be ways to shift some cost sharing of liability to the force. And I wouldn't be for a privatized police force either.

Agree, and the longer they keep letting them out at night acting fools, the more chance it happens.

No doubt, very disturbing to be quite honest.

Local St. Louis sources said Wilson suffered an “orbital blowout fracture to the eye socket.” This comes from a source within the Prosecuting Attorney’s office and confirmed by the St. Louis County Police.
Good thing we didn't know that on last Saturday.

Yes I suppose. I assumed this is what elections are for. The chief/commissioner is either elected or appointed by an elected official (mayor).

Which is why protesting is important. Because it's part of democracy.
