Solidarity against police violence IS needed.
What isn't needed is a bunch of thugs and their overseers leading the charge.
Or a bunch of hoodlums looting rims and weaves and Jordans.
This.

If the officer is black this is going to be classic

I didn't pick that up, but I don't have my full attention on it. What they said exactly? This would be an exciting turn of events.

I would be shocked if he is black. They have a predominantly White force, considering Ferguson is becoming almost all Black.
75%++ black or more in the City.

It will be classic in many regards, particularly jumping straight to bringing Sharpton and everyone else in. On the flip side, I think the Brown's and some others have missed the issue that it's about abuse of authority that needs to be addressed. White. Black. Brown. Whatever color.

But that isn't what the thug element wanted in the first place.
They wanted an "excuse" to loot and lash out.

Am not and never have disagreed with that. Two different issues as I see it. The question of abuse of authority that may have led to the death of an unarmed kid. And the question of the looters, all of whom should be prosecuted as well.

I've been reading through this thread this morning and I find the response issued here to be embarrassing. I'm not surprised that a largely southern message board has reacted this way, but I am still disgusted to see some of the things y'all are posting.
The idea that we live in a post-racial society is laughable, and people like the posters in this thread are the reason why. Y'all act like things like this don't become a race-issue until someone like Sharpton shows up, all the while completely oblivious to the virulently racist comments you yourselves are making.
Most of y'all couldn't care less about learning the truth of what happened to Brown, you're only following the story in the hopes that the police start gunning down more people (the looters).

We aren't arguing that there aren't racial issues, just the reasoning behind them and what their origins are.

Nobody knows the truth, and it's not our place to speculate so we will discuss what is actually happening, which is a community that is more worried about causing anarchy than letting the legal process and path to the discovery of the truth play out.

Correct. Why should business owners be subjected to a bunch of idiot thugs when the whole premise of this violent protest was b/c people of your thinking thought it was a cracker that shot him?

Hell, most of the comments in this thread aren't even an attempt to be thinly-veiled racism.
You'll notice, if the kid that is shot in a news story is black, or poor, he's a thug POS.
Chandler Loupe's kid gets shot at a drug deal gone bad: He's a good kid who made a bad decision.

We're in agreement on that.
I'm very much against the proliferation of the police state and the militarization of traditional police forces.
Unfortunately, when low people riot (read: burning and looting private unrelated businesses and homes) it gives the police further justification for the militarization and SWAT tactics of forces.

they bring up if people know the race "that's not important" and now it's "even if it's a black officer, he's tainted by the institutional racism of the police" argument. i'm not quoting, i'm summarizing, but that's lemon's argument
with progressives, it's never the individual...it's always institutions

I care about what happend to Brown in regards to the growth of excessive force being used when it shouldn't be.
I also live in Memphis, where my car has been vandalized 6 times, and house broken into twice, so in regards to looters getting lit up.
