THIS has been my point all along. Everyone thinks that because the kid fell 35 feet from the police car that must be where he was shot. Nothing could be further from the truth. I have seen plenty of people with fatal gunshot wounds move about, perform tasks and even run off before laying down to die. For the hunters in LA, it is the same as a deer shot through the heart that runs 500 yards before dropping. It isn't the movies and people (short of being shot through the brain or spinal cord) don't drop straight down when shot.
I think the investigation will reveal he was shot at the car (close range) and maybe even from a few feet (as he and the officer separated) but that he then ran off and fell down. Hell, for that matter, most people know that 90% of police can't hit the broad side of a barn from more than six feet in combat conditions. That is a well proven statistic.

Oh I wouldn't be surprised either if the first time he was struck was from within feet.
