3 hours before they stood and watch some poor bastards have their property shattered and destroyed by thugs. Good job buddy.

I cannot believe we have gotten to the point that we are rationalizing allowing thugs to tear shite up while police watch. It is beyond belief. If one was the egg being cracked (having their property destroyed), I think the opinion would be different.

But oh I forgot, after hours of destroying, there was an element of self policing... sure glad in America we have gotten to the point that we sacrifice people and their property to appease thugs in hopes others will turn. Beyond disgusting.

This is why people are pissed at the police today

@AntonioFrench: By the time I arrived, the police were gone, as were the tear gas and smoke. Based on previous nights, that seemed strange. #Ferguson

@AntonioFrench: A photojournalist friend told me what they saw a few minutes before...

@AntonioFrench: They said after a tense standoff following an individual throwing a bottle at an officer, police were pulling back...

@AntonioFrench: They said as police and the tanks were DRIVING AWAY they shot tear gas into the crowd, "Like a big frick you," they said. #Ferguson

@AntonioFrench: Based on later conversations, I don't know if that use of tear gas was authorized. But sure did make getting ppl calmed down more difficult.

If you're interested you can read his twitter feed for a full run down of last night.

Just out of curiosity... How the hell is there not a photo of the officer yet?

He obviously scrubbed any social accounts that he had, but SOMEONE has a photo. Yearbook/Society/Party/etc...

Just strange

Fack that. The police job is to serve and protect. To allow destruction is despicable and not because their 'actions' upon retreat. What has this world come to where we are appeasing rioters and looters. Simply unbelievable.

bullshite. Utter bullshite.

I have a novel idea. Let's hold all of them accountable.

That is my exact point. Everyone should be accountable.

The police have made some egregious and possibly illegal arrests during this ordea. That shite is on them. The looters and rioters have made some horrible and illegal decisions as well, and should be punished accordingly.

My problem is the blame, and I laid it out pretty clearly. If you want to criticize the Ferguson chief for his buffonery, by all means do so, but to act like it excuses the behavior last night is preposterous.

quote:

How about we do a full and thorough investigation of the cop before we say he should or shouldn't be charged.

C'mon Reedus, you've been leaning towards a murder from the get go. You've been grossly critical of any and every decision by the police, and on the rare occasions where you criticize the protesters, you are quick to add that the police are instigating the actions.

quote:

Go down that path too far and people might think you're racist.

Give me a break.

Agree... There is no reason to sit back and watch them destroy private property.

You don't have to go in militarized, but frick, dispatch officers.

Of all that has happened, this is the most despicable to me. They knowing and purposely let this happen. It is one thing if people frick up trying to do their job... but to just give in is the worst of the worst. The thugs are in control and we are doing all we can to appease their little hearts.

Yup... Like I said, you don't have to go in with the Armed Vehicles and Militarized officers.

You send in regular cops as if they are responding to an instance on any other night. They end up catching some of the thugs and the others flee and its done.

These thugs are not going to stand toe to toe with the officers and fight. It would be like cockroaches when you turn the light on.

Who's in control? Johnson or Jackson?

No fricking clue at this point. Was supposed to be Johnson in charge of crowd control and the likes for the protests.

I am sure both will point the finger at each other.

Jackson is incompetent and like a little boy who had his ball taken away. He's pouting and doing whatever he can to make the situation worse.

Johnson seems competent, but it too concerned with babying people instead of holding them accountable.

@AntonioFrench: "We appreciate you, but we don't need you," one of the young men told me. He said they were ready for war. "We sick of this shite." #Ferguson

@AntonioFrench: I really was about to lose hope of being able to keep the two sides apart. Then Anthony Shahid arrived. His presence helped redirect them.

@AntonioFrench: Shahid said something to 1 of the men who I saw as being a real instigator of escalation. Whatever he said, he was on our team immediately.

@AntonioFrench: Shahid then got the crowd to agree to hold their position while he and I went over to see Captain Johnson.

@AntonioFrench: We agreed that another violent confrontation could be avoided if we got the crowd to move away from the police line back to Ferguson Ave.

@AntonioFrench: Shahid also got police to agree to stop shouting instructions on the loudspeaker, which agitated the crowd, making our task more difficult.

@AntonioFrench: We went back. It took some speeches, 1-on-1 conversations, some hugs, some gentle pushes, even a line of interlocked arms to move them back

@AntonioFrench: The line did get back to Ferguson Ave, where it stayed the rest of the night. Objective #1: Avoiding another violent confrontation ??

You may be right, but also may not. It's very possible that these thugs are much more fortified than you're giving them credit for, and regular cops could easily find themselves outmanned and under armed.

It seemed everyone was highly critical of the local PD and their armed tactics. But look what happened when the State Police took over and made it clear they were going to stand down. That SP captain that took over should be ashamed, and the locals should be calling for his head. His peace initiative was an utter failure.

You guys should really read his timeline but basically what he's saying is the police would only escalate the situation at this point.

I don't know what the answer is other than identifying these individuals and locking them up. Many people that were there last night took pictures and wrote down tag numbers. Arresting them and locking them up rather than engaging in a full blown shoot out is probably a best case scenario but even that could blow things up

I really think if things aren't better by Sunday, Mashall Law should be declared

The French logic is it doesn't matter how many crimes have been committed right at this time. As long as they stop it is all good. Fack people's property - we need to make sure the precious looters and rioters are not subject to violence.

It initially worked... However, the local Chief decided to show his arse and rile them up again.

The issues earlier in the week were in direct response to the militarization of the police.

The issue last night was in response to the Chief releasing the video in an attempt to take away from the officers name. Just like Sat night, the thugs came out and looted the place where the situation last Saturday began, the supposed quick e mart.
