You think that's inaccurate?

I have a feeling Ferguson PD will be dismantled at the end of this. There is absolutely NO WAY that they will be able to effectively police the area thanks to the way the chief has acted.

The only way I think the department stays in tact is if the State Trooper running things right now takes over as Chief.

Agree 100%. The current chief put the final nail in his coffin with this press conferences yesterday. Those were his last little snub to the community on his way out. Apparently DOJ told Ferguson ahead of time, DO NOT RELEASE the video. Just now hearing this.

DOJ told them it would increase tensions. DOJ putting last night on the feet of Ferguson PD.

But the fact that the Highway Patrol Captains feel good policing didn't work out is kind of funny. I think it is horrible that he ordered his guys to back off when the looting started and just let it happen. The person who really got screwed here is the store owner. He got robbed and now he got looted. Sucks to be him.

There is a bigger picture going on. What looting that went on frankly was pretty minor. The more important thing is that it was stopped by the protesters themselves. While minimizing the damage, Johnson has created a situation where the community is now WANTING the police, WELCOMING the police. This would not have happened in a 100 years with Ferguson PD nor St. Louis County PD. By creating an atmosphere where the community is desiring LE presence, it will make for an easier post-Johnson transition. Will there be bumps along the way? Obviously. Saw it last night.

DOJ must be a bunch of thugs themselves.

I don't care what my local PD releases to the media, because at no time will I run down to my local meat market and loot it because of any video that they may release. Anyone that blames anyone other than the criminals that perpetrate these crimes is an idiot.

people like you are sickening and give me no hope for our future. Has the police dept been perfect? Hell no, not at all. But the blame, all of it, yes all of it, is out at the feet of the people in that community who rioted and looted. Period.

I want to be clear: Police not coming in at this point -- even with the looting -- was a good thing. It would've gotten very violent.

COMPLETELY different situation. His tactics of not militarizing the regular protests has kept things relatively peaceful for the past two days.

People knew that shite was going to happen last night thanks to how the Chief released info and insinuated Brown was responsible for his own death... Even though he tried to play it off.

I'd like to know who made the call not to dispatch officers, not militarized vehicle, to the stores that were being looted?

I've noticed a couple of things. Even the protests last night...didn't have the same edge of anger to them. It was more "Hear me" and less "frick you" in their message. Also, while I get and understand all looting is illegal, it seems the motivating force leading to the looting last night was simple criminal behavior, it wasn't as much a result of spillover from anger towards LE. The other thing is, like I said, the protesters and the community taking back their community. It's slow and it's not pretty, but the people are taking back their community and frankly I think that is important.

The thugs and looters were sent a very clear message last night by the inaction on behalf of police. They now have free reign of Ferguson and can operate with impunity. Thugs will come from far and wide to get their piece of the pie in the Great 2014 Loot Off Games. May the odds be ever in your favor.

Yep, this will only expand it, not contract the violence and thuggery.

So, a young man robs a store, and assaults the owner. Later gets killed, and a week later they are still protesting and looting. And the store owner, who was a victim, is now a target. Geez, this country is sad.

You don't get it either.

That community is filthy and disgusting. It needs to be gutted and purged from the inside out

No I am the same way. It boggles my mind and amuses me how some people rationalize things.

We all don't get it huh?

We should all feel sorry for that community and it's ok now to avenge this kid's death by stealing anything they get their hands on now......

Some rumors floating around that FPD and County PD refused to support the state boys. Don't know yet. Just rumors I've heard at this point.

How did you get this amazing, clairvoyant insight into the looters motivations? Talk about confirmation bias.

Have you been following this story at all? State Police took over 2 days ago. They thought they had it under control.

And the police did not victimize Brown. The media did. Multiple news outlets filed Freedom of Information request and they had to release it. The media chose to show it on TV which reignited things. Then the media had the freaking gall to call out the police on releasing the video.

Trolling?

I say declare a curfew at 10 p.m. anybody caught out after 10 is subject to arrest, anybody caught looting is shot.

Gives the people who peacefully protest time to do their thing, and get home, and will leave only the trouble makers on the street to pick off one by one.

Obviously not, but the fricks that want to blindly say the kid deserved it and blindly back police actions at any cost are just as bad.
