It's finally time for the police to do something and they are just sitting still. I take it there is nobody competent in this town.

Can someone explain why the police wouldn't step in and tear gas the lotters as they're caught in the act rather than gassing those engaged in peaceful protest

You win by becoming martyrs. That doesn't mean death necessarily. It does mean gaining the moral high ground. When you're looting or chucking bottles, you don't have the moral high ground. Sitting down on the ground and getting arrested for not dispersing would be a win. The guys in riot gear dragging you off into the smoke would provide iconic images to galvanize a movement.

How'd that work out for the occupy people?

Find a defensible post and hunker down and make the police siegers. Then they could hold out and raise awareness.

Agree. They should have centralized the protest to one specific location which would have allowed for more control by both the police and organizers

Also, tonight was apparently #PurgeNight so maybe they weren't looters but exercising their right to Purge

So the thugs looted the convenience store on the video last night... Boy, who didn't see that coming

fricking ignorant cops. They burned down the other one because they thought it was associated with the shooting. Why the frick wouldn't you put a police detail on the store for the night?

So, this guy robs a convenience store, and now the store owner is having to defend himself and plead for customers to continue to frequent his store. Even has a lawyer making public statements.

Well his store is destroyed now... At least it didn't get burned down.

The chief of police got exactly what he wanted, he got the crowd riled up again.

Wow, just read that. Blaming the store owner instead of the thief.

Those are the people the police need to handle, not the protestors that are out there 90% of the time.

Apparently, Ferguson police told the local store owners to "Deal with it" that they weren't responding to calls about looters.... Basically, it wasn't their problem.

What does this say about our society, when a victim is now the recipient of the wrath instead of the criminal.

We are so screwed up in this country. And if the police aren't defending the innocent, what good are they.

Well, they are upset that they got their toys taken away from them and they can't play war with the protestors.

The chief is to blame for a lot of how this all has played out. The man should be terminated immediately.

If they aren't going to defend an obvious target by thugs, then what good are they?
