Because the police tried to make it appear that the officer was chasing a robbery suspect and caught him. And that's apparently not what happened at all.

So basically the police have come out and told the truth but that is bad? Told it in a way that isn't beneficial to them also. I sense a coverup.

I thought the media was given a file earlier about the robbery and they put 2 and 2 together...not the chief. Is that wrong?

There is nothing based on the facts that have been placed before us that can justify the execution style murder of their child by this police officer as he held his hands up, which is the universal sign of surrender.

Has this even been proven? How are they getting this info that he was murdered execution style?

I doubt they actually know all of the facts. And I think it is most likely an overeaction.

Rosa Parks broke the law. Should the protesters in Montgomery have waited until her case was finalized? Until it went to court? When?

Exactly what point in the time line did protest start? She wasn't killed.

If you can't see by now that this police department is completely inept at handling information, then I'm not sure what would help you.

and the press doing what it can to keep the situation genned up:

quote:

The chief was quickly hustled away from the area and did not answer questions, launching a whole new round of protest along West Ferguson Avenue.

but in the same paper:

"Memo to the world — we're fine" plea or message?

LINK

a nice "can't we all just get along, nothing to see here"

You have to admire the media and their mixed up turmoil to keep as much attention and focus on the story and as much interest raked up no matter what the facts are.

So which is it STL Post Disgrace? Is it now worse than ever or is everything just fine? lol

They're just so cute.

He did say "initial" contact so the friends story may be making more sense now. He also said the officer was leaving and then abruptly put the car in reverse and almost hit them.

Yeah, the friend said that the officer told them to get out of the street and started to drive off, but they didn't get out of the street. So he reversed and grabbed Brown through the window.

Has it been determined that maybe initial contact wasn't the robbery, but something else, officer begins to leave and recieves call over radio hence slamming the cruiser in reverse?

With all the information that has been released, then why not say "he was leaving the initial contact when the robbery description came over the radio and he stopped." Why is it ok to release the robbery video and not other things? The piece "mil" (lol) release is an absolutely legitimate complaint.

Is this about the ineptness of the Ferguson PD or whether or not excessive force was used against MB?

That would be the most obvious reason, but then the defenders would say that could be made up, right bass?

Well duh, now that they've had enough time to fabricate their story. /sarcasm

It's both. An inability to simply put facts on the table in a timely and cogent manner makes it appear you have something to hide.

That's what I am thinking. The only other explanation was the officer went back to confront Brown and it ended with a dead jaywalking in the street; only to find out he was a suspect after? This whole thing is more convoluted now that they have attempted to release information.

Then just say that. Why not release that info? It's as relevant as anything else that was released. It would be more relevant than "the initial contact was not related to the robbery."
