Slick getting shite done.

Told you that tide was turning about how LE is being viewed and that they fricked up arresting those reporters. Funny that he specifically mentioned that. Surely has to do with the others not arrested but told to get out or stop recording as well.

This all came about after 9/11. The feds slung out a lot of money to every podunk LEO, F.D., hospital,... They all bought shite they don't need. I know. I delivered some of it to them.

Began in 1990. Was increased in 1996. Boiled over after 9/11.

I've personally never been a big gun guy. No problem with others owning them, was just never my deal. Watching this stuff has seriously made me consider going out and getting some...and it's not because of the rioters. Those guys aren't coming out to my neighborhood. Those cops, on the other hand, will be right back up at my QT eating free donuts and coffee as soon as this is over.

It was Sharpton on I70 in 1999 with a chain of protesters.

That felt like a Race Baiter version of Clue.

Idealism is a weakness when one refuses to face the truth and deal with it. Realism is the ability to see things as they are and deal with them in a manner that will effect real change. I have faced the facts and used that to effect real change in my time youngun. Good luck to you in your endeavors to change the world while looking through the idealism spectacles.

They probably should have made a bigger deal about it and lit those frickers up.

Or arrested them for disturbing the peace, which is what they were doing by fricking up people's traveling plans. Protest all you want but when it impacts someone else's life, that's when it becomes a problem.

Pretty sure it was Al Sharpton then. 96 or 97?

I don't think so. For some reason it seems to me like it was some goofy cause. Something like women's right to eat baby seals. I just remember thinking what the heck kind of cause is that.

ETA - Nevermind. Looks like you found it and I'm wrong. Maybe it was the goofs that weren't allowed.

You can have our LE and we'll just hire new ones that understand and respect the constitution.

What part of the Constitution was violated by them showing up in that gear?

Agreed. And if you had read my comment which you selectively quoted in which I proclaimed my idealism, you'd have seen that. May need the reading glasses more than I need my idealism glasses.

It was Sharpton. Had it in the PD. He wanted more minority participation in road construction contracts.

Well that is a completely different situation don't you agree? I am sure the protest was organized and LE was able to make arrangements for public AND the protesters safety. Probably had no reason to think violence would break out.

So maybe instead of showing up ready for war they should try to do the same thing here. That's all I'm saying. Give it a shot. What's the worse that can happen? The city has already been burned down.

Blocking any roadways shouldn't be under "peaceful assembly"

Blocking state and federal highways is against the law in this state. It's sometimes allowed but they can dust off that law anytime they see fit.

Me too. I've never owned a gun. I've never been afraid of the random robbery or assault from some street trash.

The recent waves made by the police have me watching the currents much closer. I am terrified of what it may bring.

No one's arguing that. Some were arrested. But you don't need a nuke when a knife would get the job done.
