It's fair. I worded my response lazily.

This is why people need to hold judgement until the facts are known. Jumping to conclusions because of a twitter feed or when family members are lashing out is what normally escalates a situation to level that communication breaks down.

Why people paint themselves into a corner before any statements have been made is beyond me. Why make heated statements and then look like a fool when the facts come out?

Yeah, we should wait for the police to investigate their own potential crimes to make us all feel good about the public execution of petty thieves.

The police are out of control in this country and people are fricking over it. Six hundred protestors showing up for this tells me to get ready, cause this shits about to get heavy.

Yeah, of those 600, how many know what happened?

I can see this play out either way. Anyone with an open mind and little common sense can. Why rush to judgement?

We are just now hearing of maybe the kid fired a shot and that there was a struggle for the cops gun. This would change the narrative completely, but so many people have weighed in already and won't allow themselves to be swayed from their opinion.

The cop may have just overstepped his bounds completely and be totally in the wrong. Stating that if you break the law you should be shot isn't the answer either.

Cooler heads should prevail, but this day and age, that is rare.

If you seriously believe that garbage of a story the police came out with, then I wish I had what you were smoking

You must have missed the following:

It's just as stupid as believing what the kids parents have stated. I'm not buying into either side, until some facts come out. I just wish others would do the same. Inciting others when none of us know what really happened is irresponsible.

I get it, and my general philosophy is in agreement with yours. But this is the world today with our privately controlled media and militarized policing tactics promoting a war waging subculture. The bear has been poked far too many times for it not to roar.

There is no report of the kid potentially firing a shot, just an unsubstantiated claim that he went for the officer's weapon in a struggle. The police are also claiming they Think that they heard a gunshot in the crowd of protestors. I don't believe that either.

This is going to turn into a major national story if the police don't produce some good justification quite soon. Especially if this dumb tuck shot an unarmed man in he back of the head as claimed by a witness.

Once the autopsy report comes, we'll see the truth. Police can spin it how they want. Watch in the coming days you'll see reports assassinating this kid's character.

I agree with this... Only thing that makes sense would be two cops. Officer a and officer b scenario. Boy tussles with officer a, who yells, "he's going for my gun." Boy runs and officer b shoots him...

****not claiming this happened****

This would be the only reasonable way, in my mind for the police to shoot.

You're going to see all kinds of reports. That's the medias job. This is too good a story for them to pass up. And not because of an agenda. Because of MONEY. There is way too much money to be made for the ratings for the press to ignore any aspect of this. But they are going to be speculating as well. Why, because there is money to be made.

Almost always, eventually the truth will come to light. New Orleans cops during Katrina, Tawana Brawley, etc. The only agenda that the press has is to make this into as big of a story as possible so they can make some quick and easy money. Letting this story die isn't in their best interest. They will expose facts ON BOTH SIDES.

But in that scenario he's still shooting an unarmed boy who has disengaged from combat in the back.

With a gun.

What percentage of cops do anything that is actually beneficial to society?

Updated info from CNN with the friend's side of the story.

LINK

quote:

Dorian Johnson said he was walking with Brown in the middle of the street when a police car pulled up. The officer told the teens to use the sidewalk, according to Johnson.

After an exchange of words, the officer shot Brown even after he raised his hands in the air, Johnson said.

The officer "shot again, and once my friend felt that shot, he turned around and put his hands in the air," Johnson told KMOV. "He started to get down and the officer still approached with his weapon drawn and fired several more shots."

Well that sounds about as believable as the cop's story.
