Lame. They're about to lose a lot of sales tax revenue via bootleg cigarettes. Kids going into Illinois to buy cigarettes.

I just love how cigarette use has rapidly gone down over the past 2 decades, and the government feels it has to interject and "save the day" with more regulations. pathetic.

they'll probably encourage more tobacco use

Ridiculous, they're adult citizens able to vote and go to war. It's a blatant violation of their rights as citizens. It'd be no different if the government passed a law saying black people or some other segment of the population were no longer allowed to purchase cigarettes

It would have been better if they just banned climate change activists.

Not exactly the same unless black people become white people when they turn 21.

Allow me to re-phrase b/c I don't feel like getting into this much further. This law is horseshite, adults, because thats what they are in the eyes of law, should be able to decide for themselves if they want to smoke

Stupid because kids mostly buy tobacco between those ages. That said, I'm all for less people smoking so the fewer 18 year olds than can legally pick it up, the better

It's singling out a group of individuals. If they can have all the responsibilities associated with being an adult in the eyes of the law, they should have all the same rights.

Should they also be able to shoot up if they choose?

Uh no, Missouri has one of the lowest cigarette tax, prices in Country. They will just have their older buddies buy it for them.

Illinois people make the drive to buy in Missouri. They even have bootlegging signs when you enter Illinois from Missouri.

Illinois average price per pack is $11, because of taxes. Missouri is lowest price per pack at $5.25 per.

Missouri cig tax is 0.17 Illinois is $4 per pack?

I was hammered in Chicago a few years ago and bought a pack. I was so pissed when it was like $14.

I always heard Missouri had a lox cig tax, but holy frick, .17 cents is archaic.

U have states charging $3-4 in taxes per pack.
