If this is legit. St. George is screwed. They knew this lawsuit was going to happen. If they can't plan for this I'm afraid to know what else they didn't plan for when the city comes to fruition.

Dude they’re being sued for following the process they were told to follow if they wanted to incorporate. It was put to a vote. It passed. And now that it’s real, the city is desperate to keep the money and now wants to sue the organizers? This is how you know Baton Rouge government is full of crooks.
Even if the organizers can personally afford the legal fees, I don’t think they should go this alone. They are merely following due process for the betterment of a community and now being sued for it. This should really get people in St George fired up to a new level. Broome is literally fighting against the constituents that live in south Baton Rouge like they’re not a part of who she took office to serve. It’s crazy.
And please reply to this post with which part you disagree with if you downvote. I’m genuinely curious as to what is controversial.

It’s truly crazy how they think they can live by different rules. Doing everything they can to stop it from happening even after an election. Even if you didn’t get the outcome you wanted, that’s what election and democracy are for and the city of BR and the mayor are spitting on the process we created to make this the best country in the world. To those that didn’t support St George, how can you defend this type of leadership? How is it not obvious this mayor president only cares about certain parts of her parish?

Are they really asking for help paying the legal fees after years of promising they’d be ok financially?

There is no st George general fund. These are individuals that helped organize the process to get the vote and subsequent incorporation..

According to this link, she's suing Browning and Rials.
Why the frick would I donate to them?
And shouldn't SG be able to find a new citizen who can represent pro-bono?
So it’s OK now for our mayor and the city hall crowd to sue individual citizens because they dared to exercise their rights as proscribed in the La. constitution?
I don’t

I would love to have a concerned parent have a public discussion with Broome about the big picture to all of this and ask her what efforts she has put towards alleviating the concerns of parents like the one she would face. Schools being the main topic of course, and how much of the parish money comes from the area of st George and then what percentage of it is spent back in the st George community.

And already we see the simplistic “Duh St George can’t even fund itself!” as if it should already have a legal fund or city attorney to fight a frivolous lawsuit two weeks after it’s inception.

The leaders who created St George and made all the promises can handle the legal fees. They wanted the headache, they can deal with it. I wish them good luck, but they got what they wanted, now it’s time for them to start working.
Anyone notice the problem with this statement?
This mindset of "follow the system, put it to a vote and if the vote doesn't go your way clogg up the courts with law suits and red tape to try to get your way." This progressive liberal strategy is now an accepted practice. Never mind the collections, it should never be necessary because these suits are frivolous and meant to financial cripple the SG effort because those that oppose it lost a vote. much like Impeachment.. SG needs to counter sue to have the care thrown out and all legal fees paid by the individuals representing BR and not tax payer funds.
smh you people are past brainwashed, you're brain dead.

SG needs to counter sue
On what grounds, specifically?
If BR’s suit is a sham, surely SG will file an exception(s) and Judge Morvant will toss it, right?

Exactly, this is becoming a civil rights issue.
We see the majority trying to block a minority from exercising their rights in order to control their tax money and spend it as they please.

Seems sketchy as hell for individuals to ask for donations through the city website.
Or maybe I'm missing something.

How long did it take for St George to become like every other government entity and start begging for money?
A month?
A month?

Can’t tell if your joking or seriously stupid.

St George has no government yet. They have no money as they haven't collected any tax dollars to date.
I don't see how this is hard to understand.

SG won an election, but it has no revenue stream yet. The governor vetoed the legislation to fund SG if it had won the election.
The website is private

Here’s a novel idea
Go down the list of the people who signed the petition, and ask them for donations
Nobody outside of BR/StG gives a shite

Not inclined.
I see St George as an inevitability, but I hope it gets dragged out as long as possible.
