That is all I have said. We should simply remember history, and not forget the negative parts of history simply because it was evil and paints a bad picture for our country's history.

No one is saying forget the bad parts, but there's this stupid segment of the American population today that wants to act like the U.S. is the root of all evil that there's ever been in the world. Its like no one cares what happened before the formation of the U.S. colonies. These people think every ill of today's world can be traced back to the U.S..

Its stupid and idiotic. There were hundreds and hundreds of years of horrible societies that existed LONNGGGGG before the U.S. existed. Most societies that have existed have been ruled by despots and monarchs.

Does anyone blame anything that happened before the U.S.? Mostly no.

Does anyone of these individuals care that the U.S. has done more good in the world than any nation before it? No.

No one is dumb enough to think the U.S. has been completely perfect, but no one should be dumb enough to think its some great evil in the world either and in fact its better than almost every country thats ever existed. Humanity and especially Americans should at least appreciate what they have and they're going to regret the day its no longer there.

And lets be clear, a lot of this anti-American sentiment has been pushed forth at many American universities and its carried into some political ideologies...which even furthers peoples beliefs the U.S. is some evil force.

These people generally have also never lived outside the US, or even traveled outside the US unless it was some all inclusive resort or a European vacation.

They take the term "live in a bubble" to an extreme.

He'll fit in nicely with Che Poppovich and the SJW Spurs.

His post just reeks of ignorance.

He has reaped many benefits of this fine country. I have no problem with someone debating this nation’s past, but I’d prefer that someone to have been in the real world for a bit. Many youngsters love to be ‘democratic’ and ‘liberal’, that is until they have to start paying taxes to support the dregs of society. In the NBA, they should realize quickly how nice capitalism can be. So no, I don’t want a NBA rookie telling me to stay woke.

Furthermore, if he wants to judge whites based on the actions of their ancestors, does that mean whites get to judge blacks by the actions of theirs?

I would add this. This may not be you, so I won't accuse you of this.

While everything you are saying is true. There is definitely a segment of tge population who believes that America is perfect. And that it always has been perfect. So whenever someone critique America in the past or in the present, they automatically assume that person hates the country.

We should atleast acknowledge that as well.

Slavery existed long before and long after the 4th of July. Should we not celebrate anything that happened during slavery?

So if Lonnie had been drafted by the 76'ers, he would have refused to sign?

While he is not celebrating, he should be thanking God that he lives in a country that allows him to play a sport for a career, make millions, and refuse to celebrate the holiday that recognizes the birth of that country.

There are countries that have existed that would force him to recognize the birth of the country.
