Spinoff: Worst Traits of Each Generation

IMO
Greatest: Racism with a side of maybe raping some European women in WWII.
Silent: Racism, planted the seed for downsizing/outsourcing as they became older (these were the executives in the 1970's and 1980's)
Boomers: Oblivious to the fact the rules of the world they grew up in don't apply to their kids.
Gen X (includes me): Rejects authority and way too passive aggressive - I think it's due to the fact that we "raised ourselves" (both parents had to work and cell phones/internet didn't exist in our childhood).
Millennials: Naive, hyper-idealistic - even more so than previous generations were in their 20's due to helicopter parenting of their boomer parents.

I hate these dicussions because I still don't know which generation I belong to.
I was born in 1983 so we didn't have cell phones or internet as a kid so by that definition in the OP i'm gen-x. we didnt even have cable yet, and I remember when the FOX network was added to UHF.
but we had nintendo and my dad bought PCs early on. I got on the "internet" BBS's, Prodigy, AOL, by the time I was 10.
Every other generation gap is clearly defined, but the one between genx and millennial is vague at best.
for instance I am worlds apart from my step daughter who was born in 1996, she had high speed internet her whole life and multimedia PCs. I remember 9600 baud modems and turning the dial on an old TV to tune in a channel. But if you go with the accepted definition we are both millennial. I relate more to Gen X.

Slight hijack: have they decided what the generation born after 2001 will be called? My son was born in 2001 that's why I'm interested. I've seen conflicting things....that those kids are in Generation Y, some call them Generation Z (wtf?) etc. Any ideas?

I think the nomenclature with calling kids born past 2001 Generation Z is because technically the Millennial Generation would be Generation Y however no one actually calls Millennials Generation Y.
On another note what will the decade of 2000-2009 be referred as? The 00s? The Aughts? The 2000s?

Boomers: Me first and selfish to the point of disenfranchising their kids (a first for any human generation) in order to get a better "life experience" for themselves

Millennials: blindly hunting for an "authentic" human existence without a way of coping with failure (thanks to helicopter parents)

Doesn't give a crap about politics, so Boomers and Millennials have created the mess we are in.

Fairly accurate. I wouldn't say this is all negative. Being a child of the cold war, post Vietnam we became cynical. We actually partied like there would be no 1999.

I mean just look at this link. All the pictures of the generations are smiling or confident and the Gen X guy looks miserable.

It's because we're shouldering most of the workload right now. It'll change in the next 10 years or so as the early X-ers start hitting retirement age.
