And “interesting” isn’t even that strict. On a scale of 1-10 it could be a 1.5 and still be good enough. And it’s definitely very wide ranging. Ya know. Off topic.

On a long enough timeline, every internet forum will gain a personality. People who join the community beyond that point will either embrace that personality, fight against it (whether intentionally or unintentionally), or leave. If the forum's popularity grows to the point that relatively new, uninitiated members outnumber those who make the core group, most members will unintentionally fight against the forum's personality simply due to not giving a shite about what that personality was. Members of the old core will whine. Members of the new guard will get defensive and whine back. The forum mostly turns into a never ending string of people spouting in jokes as a calling card that they belong to the in group, people saying those in jokes are stupid, and everyone whining

In short, on the off chance there ever were good ol days, it's impossible to return to them.

I oft likened it to a locker room, where the shite talk was part of the comradery, you fricked with each other but still a team.
and good smack talk was respected and a commodity.
But it was all in good fun and people got along.
Most importantly TD was a respite from real life.
then a series of inevitabilities took place that resulted in the shite show we have today
1) people started asking what others looked like IRL
1a) some very well-liked posters were unfortunate looking and they started to be treated differently
1b) other posters less ugly pics started showing up and they too were treated differently
2) people starting meeting IRL
2a) in Houston, it wasnt a big deal everyone but _____ had job and families and real lives
3) those in BR started meeting and they were fricking idiot college kids and had no jobs, no families and the people they met through here started becoming part of their real lives
4)then a few semi-hot chicks showed up and started sleeping with some of us
since pussy was involved the shite talk and banter was about competition for the gash and no longer friendly shite talk
then the blacks started posting and it really went to shite, jsut like real estate
the seminal moment on the OT was Blondies side boob pic
that and my American flag pic that lester earl found on My Space
