As long as it matches the drapes, I don't mind it.

Our lab must have gotten a parasite or eaten something bad on a camping trip last month.

Made him have uncontrollable liquid explosive diarrhea....all on our carpeted living room floor.

Yeah....not a fan of carpet.

Carpet in the bedrooms. Tile and wood everywhere else.

Carpet fan here. Wife has the allergies, so no carpet in the house. Built myself a separate home office, and she prevailed in getting hardwood floors there too. I ultimately got my carpet though by putting in wall-to-wall rugs. So, all the fancy hardwood she demanded is now just a $400.00 underlay. Ah, the joy and bliss of matrimony.

It's great in a bedroom, possibly a living room if you have young children, if it is really nice but other than that

Love carpet, screw hardwood floors. They look good, but aren't practical.

Agree on liking it better. Agree on it not being the in thing and only good for bedrooms.

shag carpet is legit. I hate wood floors unless they're authentic (original with the building, like 70 years old or older) or super duper expensive.

I actually prefer poured concrete over most wood.

I refuse to put anything but carpet in my house minus the kitchen and bathroom. Walking on tile or hardwood floors with socks is disgusting. I use my carpet steam cleaner about every 6 months, keeps the carpet nice and clean. There is also a big difference between cheap carpet and something like stainmaster. Its worth every penny.

Anyone building a house that is worried about resale better listen to the posters here that say only in the kids bedrooms. If you want carpet in a room just get a nice rug.

I hate carpet. Building my house right now and it will have no carpet at all.
