Some of the worst lawyers out there are the TV ones. They had no referral business to speak of so they had to get on TV. Now they may be rich due to volume, but on an individual basis worst thing YOU an do is go to to a TV lawyer, you're just paying for all that TV advertising and he's sacrificing your case to some paralegal or lawyer 2 years out of law school to pay all that overhead.

There's a new ad out for a lawyer that's been around for a while and his big line is that he never makes more than his clients (no shite) while wearing a Polo branded sleeveless camouflage vest.

P.I. lawyer who doesn't advertise (probably has a yellow page listing though) came down to my parish and popped out a $30m + settlement in an oilfield injury case (with two persons having substantial brain injuries). He also had another $10m plus result. He does great work and I refer any big cases to him (I don't do p.i. work of any kind).
