Once you admit to speeding, the DA will make sure you pay something.
Your best chance is to talk with DA and/or go to court on your court date.

Yes they can change it to a non traffic ticket like a seatbelt violation and it will not affect your insurance. Ask for Article 894 on your court hearing date.
Is this your first ticket in a while?
I would not use my 894 on a speeding ticket. The Assistant DA will plead it down. ask for / plead for a non moving violation. Seat belt is the best (25 bucks), then comes “inoperative equipment” (court cost (about 200 bucks), then comes miles over (do not plead any speeding at all not even your 360 thing), then comes prison (that’s when you run) Don’t choose the prison.
Do not show the 360 thing except as a last resort to avoid any plead over what you were doing. Showing the DA the 360 thing is an admission of guilt.
Dress nicely and be super respectful to the DA.
Let us know how you make out please.

Screenshot the Life 360 screen and text it to the number on the back of the ticket. They should cut your fine in half.
Hahahaha for real? Give them more evidence against you?

But don’t be afraid to present your case in court.
Judges LOVE pro bono Perry Masons with lots of visual aids.

Since u were speeding anyway ask the agency that gave u the ticket for a diversion. Wont go on your insurance.

Still speeding. Did you get any extra for 20+ over?
I know in Alabama it's consider reckless driving to be going over 85 in a 70 MPH zone. They will put 5 points on your driving record instead of 2. The fine might be a little higher too.

This is not the usual your word against the cop situation. If you have evidence, bring it to your court date and show the DA. They are usually more than happy to work a deal with you. If you can’t at least get the chance reduced way down, ask for a continuance and get a lawyer.

Let me know how it goes when you tell the judge they got the wrong guy and you were only going 12 over.

Even if my pick up truck has Roll Tide license plate. With Nick Saban bumper stickers on the back and the front?

Or you can show up to court with your evidence, if the cop doesn't show up it will get dismissed.
Is that always the case? I've heard that's up to the discretion of the court and they can reschedule the date.

Easy to resolve, just put a check in the mail for the full amount. Should take care of itself after that!

Everyone says this... but if the cops not there they make you wait until the end of the day to dismiss it, you have to stay there all day. Usually the DA will do something before that, last one looked at my ticket and was like why the frick did he site you for this... what a dick... go on your way, here is your paperwork. Oh, and dick cop didn't show, but again, they were going to make me wait all fricking day until I talked to the head DA there that day, the first one they gave me was all gung ho for me to plead guilty and pay... The lead guy actually said the way his underling was talking he thought I would have been street racing or doing donuts in the middle of an intersection...

Get an expert to download your EDR from your car which will show your speed at a certain time. Keep the Life 360 info as well. Challenge it at a trial.

I got a ticketing St. James parish once that was BS and I knew it.
I called whatever office was on the ticket and told them I was going to file a subpoena for about 10 different things and started rattling them off. The woman said "what firm do you work for".
I told her I wasn't a lawyer but I was going to do it anyway. I told her I was going to take my case to court and win. She asked me to call back in 15 minutes. I called her back and she told me to call the DA's office and ask for someone. I called and talked to him, explained the situation and he dismissed my ticket over the phone.
They don't want you to fight, it cost them too much money. Subpoena all the radar records, training records, dash cam and anything else you can think of.

894 is not eligible for 20+ over the limit. He could have been written for dangerous op of a motor vehicle.
Best thing to do is talk to DA/city prosecutor. Tell them you’re coming to court and will plead not guilty. If found guilty you will appeal. They will either dismiss or take a few bucks in fine to make it go away.
