He claimed she was doing the Tour du Mont Blanc, a backpacking loop in the Alps.
Pretty good cover story. Maybe someone should alert the DGSE.

It must be hard to keep rocks out of the road in some places.
Also, I want that dude at my next tailgate.

Worse considering she could have caused serious injuries to cyclists
One cyclist broke both elbows in that wreck AND continued to ride another 100 miles of the day 1 stage. That’s nuts.
Today’s stage 3 was full of some wrecks. A few contenders are not so much anymore.

That is Didi Senft. He has worn the Devil costume at the Tour and the Giro for over 30 years. He is an extremely well-known and beloved character. He quit for a few years due to I think a brain issue but has been back the last few years.
He has some hops for an old guy,

You can see where she left her yellow raincoat (in the second photo) to slip into the crowd.
Just watched the video. Those yellow things appear to belong to someone else. The picture shows the aftermath about 30 yards down the road after the initial collision.
Here's the video from NBC's coverage. The collision from the overhead camera happens about 40 seconds in.

Were they able to identify her?

Pro cyclists are some of the mentally and physically toughest athletes you will find, mainly because the sport is about who is willing and capable to suffer the most which is especially true in the Grand Tours (the 3 week stage races).
Tyler Hamilton broke his collarbone in the first stage of the 2003 Tour and rode the remaining 19 stages of the tour. He also won a stage in a solo breakaway of around 150 miles. It was so amazing one of the other team managers labled it a hoax and an American PR stunt, He came in fourth that year.

Reported just now on the TdF coverage that she is in custody.

France takes a lot of pride in the Tour de France.
I thought it would of been a bigger deal. I will say I really had no way to gauge it. It’s not the USA where there are TVs and sports bars everywhere. Maybe people were watching at home.

Why would he flee?
You would expect her to flee to avoid being arrested (which she apparently has). Whether it turns out to be accurate or not is was initially believed she was German and not French.

No just Phil saying she was arrested. I can't find anything in the English press so far.
