Link below contains a good summary for those that don’t know about the event. Sadly there were negative outcomes for several people involved, including the rescuer of the toddler who ended up killing himself a few years afterwards due to a form of PTSD related to the rescue.

Well-wishers throughout the country had donated more than a million dollars, placed in a trust fund, to support her rescue effort. Unfortunately, that was all wiped out during the stock market crash following the 2008 recession.

Fell down a well and went all in on Bear Stearns?

shite, that story is nuts.

She lost her leg, parents got divorced, the dude that rescued her was born without collerbones.

she also looks like every girl ive ever met from midland/odessa

I was a callous teenager at the time this happened, and not sure I paid much attention to it.

But as the father of a little girl, the thought of that baby trapped down there singing Winnie the Pooh songs to comfort herself, makes me tear up everytime I read about it.

I remember watching the Family Ties episode where Alex gets hooked on Eppie's diet pills and they cut away to show baby Jessica being pulled from the well.

This and Al Capone's Vault are the two first big events I remember watching on tv. Al Capone's Vault was a big event for reasons other than intended.

The guy without collar bones volunteered but was not actually allowed to enter the well. An EMT with normal collar bones actually crawled in and rescued her. He's the one that killed himself in '95.

The well she fell into was too narrow to get her out so they had to dig a second shaft and then another horizontal one.
