There was a guy when I was in the Army that spoke 7 languages (most of them were romance languages but still pretty impressive). He was learning Korean at DLI for his 8th language.

Coincidentally he was also black so I clicked on the video to see if it was him... different guy.

Nice find.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Central Intelligence Agency recruits this guy with his abilities to learn languages quickly. I am sure this video will get him a job somewhere.

Very limited skill set.

Those aren't easy languages at all.

I think once you learn a few it's very easy to add more. Not taking anything away from him though, he's definitely talented.

Doubtful. I suspect he has a very elementary grasp of most of these. He says a lot of the same things in each language. He could be a translator at an airport or something like that but doubtful he could do it at a level that would be a career. That being said, he could probably work for the military or the state department and get additional training to become more proficient in some of these languages.

It isn't necessarily a function of intelligence. Just

One comedian has a bit about calling a guy and idiot. Another guy says "That guy's not an idiot. He speaks like 5 languages". The comedian goes "So!, that just means more people can understand that he's a fricking idiot."

his videos are very enjoyable

My favorite part is seeing people's faces light up when someone else is able to speak to them in their native language

I went down that wormhole as well after I heard Mark Zuckerberg speaking Mandarin to an audience when he visited China a year or so ago.

Started looking up "polyglots" on YT and there's a shitload of fascinating people who can just walk up to diverse foreigners and speak their language fluently.
