Message Poll: Spanking a kid--where do you stand? by p&g All you snowflakes that have a problem with it should spend little while with a child that has no discipline and who’s parents let it roam around as it pleases and you’ll change your tune.

Who’s fault is that?

I'm not big on spanking. I think there are more effective ways to punish a child. I also have a 14 month old, so he doesn't understand punishment and spanking him at that age would just be cruel, IMO. I may change my mind as he gets older. But sending him off to pick a belt to whip him with will never happen in my household.

My 13 yr old son was mocking his mom today while were eatin Messican with his sister, cousins and my mom.
I said "don't mock your mom, boy."
A minute later he did it again.
Seated to my left, he got a swift backhand slap to the ribs and he straightened right the frick up.

I ain't big on spankings and belts or anything but 2 of my 4 respond well to swift deliberate stinging swats when they frick up. The other two respond to threats and shite just fine. Every kid is different.

Circumstance dictates imo.

My wife's friend has a teenage son who a few years ago stood in the kitchen and told his mom to go frick herself during an arguement about his homework as the Dad stood 5 feet away eating his chips-he didnt do shite about it-. The boy now has a live in gf, still in hs who is pregnant.

I cant help but think a few slaps on the arse earlier in his life may have had him on a different course in his present day life.

I was spanked, not for long though.
I think we were more receptive to being taught back then though.
This don't say "no" to a kid is gonna cost us more in the future,
I think it has already. JMO

I had a healthy fear of my father, all he had to to was give us a look, and the shenanigans stopped there.

If I was doing something wrong, it was like I could feel his eyes on me. Id turn around and sure enough, there he was... with the stare. It stopped. My Dad didnt whip me more than a few times over the course of my life but when he did it was deserved and rememberable

Yes you did. You need to be in a collar on your knees.

Studies demonstrate that corporal punishment is not an effective way to instill discipline and actually promotes insubordination and violence.

Studies indicate we will soon be underwater.

Does the military use physical punishment to install discipline? Does the military have problems with insubordination?

"If I was ever violent my parents would be violent to show me violence is wrong"

Yea sounds like great parenting. You dumb red necks just refuse to admit your parents were ever wrong about anything

That part of his post was directly related to his kids age you fricking idiot. He didn't say that no children understand right or wrong, he said his 14 month old couldn't

First of all it's a she.
Secondly she specifically stated that she thinks her 14 month old child does not understand punishment. Which is obviously not true.

You people are acting like spanking is the only form of punishment that exists. Very few people have a "never say no" mentality
