Nothing wrong with spanking. No one has ever died from a case of red arse.

Spanking just shows how low of an IQ you have. You’re an adult and you can’t think of other ways to instill discipline and respect besides beating your kid?

I made a 31 on the ACT and graduated magna cum laude from the esteemed Louisiana State University. I feel like you are calling me trashy. Are you calling me trashy son?

I was spanked by both parents and most teachers as well. One had a picture window behind his desk and when I was leaning over the desk he said “see those birds out there?” I said what birds? BAM with a wooden paddle. He said “I bet you see birds now”

Father hit with his hand but it was worse than a belt. Mother with yardsticks.

I never had to spank. Just the threat and a loud voice made them realize they were in trouble. But it’s girls too so I let their mother deal with that.

Teach your kids to solve problems by beating the shite out of things or people... great parenting. Spanking is for the parents gratification. Usually mentally unstable parents who don't know any other way to express themselves in stressful situations.

I can 100% of the time pick out the kids in my children's first grade that get their arse handed to them. They are always violent towards their friends and the teacher. Endless cycle of child acting out with aggression and getting their arse beat never knowing what they did wrong in the first place.

These are the ones that resort to violence first to solve all of their problems.

I think it partially depends on the kid.

I am 100% pro spanking. But I also believe in consistency in parenting. I also never spank out of anger. I tell my son “son if you do A then B will happen” sometime spanking is the result of A. Then if he doesn’t listen he will get spanked.

But with my 3.5 year old I’ve found that putting his toys in timeout works FARRRR better. I would spank him he would cry for 10 seconds then go right back to it.

Threaten to put Buzz or Woody in timeout and it stops him in his tracks.

My mom was a fan of slapping my face. I’m sure I deserved it.

I got that once, and only once when I was about 13 years old. In my mothers defense, I practically begged for it. She told me to vacuum my room, and I looked down my nose at her (I was about 4 inches taller than her by that point) and said, "No, that's your job."

She went all Xena warrior princess on me.

That shouldn't be a regular occurrence.

My son got about two or three spankings from me in the 4 to 7 year old range, but it hadn't happened in 6 or so years.

I wasn't hit as a kid and I would never hit a kid.

If you can't raise your children without violence, probably says more about you.

I’ve done it a couple times when they were very young, but the research is pretty clear that it isn’t an effective means of teaching or guiding children. Let’s just say it’s a dull tool that doesn’t send accurate messages.

This might be the dumbest thing I’ve ever read. On this board or elsewhere. Congrats.
