Watch that loop open to traffic in 5 years. I wouldn’t put it beyond Elon Musk to provide the private part of the public private partnership in building that road.

I guess it depends on their definition of pretty close. Anything relatively close to that area is going to be part of the gulf of American temporarily during the next hurricane. Kaplan and Abbeville are the two most sustainable places thay are close. They are both shite holes, but for different reasons.

Also they could expand the Abbeville airport for freight and commercial flights. The airport is pretty small. But they could expand it when they talked about adding an airport.

I posted about hwy 91 being extended south of gueydan. A bridge over the intercostal canal and an elevated hwy either cutting through white lake roughly 16 miles or an elevated hwy between white and grand lake roughly 13 miles. This would open up south west LA to that area. From the Jennings exit on I10 to hwy 82 would be about a 45 to 50 min trip. And about the same from the Estherwood i10 exit.

Don’t know how cost efficient this is but from a logistics standpoint it would give you another route to pecan island coming in from west of pecan island. Would be really cool if they did that

Abbeville isnt that bad as far as small towns go

Kaplan is like every other small town in Louisiana. Old school that has gotten left behind. With a jolt of money injected into the local economy and the right investments, Kaplan could grow enough to sustain all the influx of people coming in.

Are there any dry parts of the spaceport site? Could they build a man camp onsite?
Sounds like FWC is where everything is going to be built. So earthwork there first then start pouring concrete. Canal solves most of the logistical problems for that phase.
Building / furnishing the facilities is where a ton on congestion is going to start. I just don’t see how you get more than one road out of there.

I would guess that they will build a headquarters/ administration site west of Lafayette near I10 for anyone who doesn’t need to be onsite.
Hopefully, most of the people working onsite permanently are from the area and just sort of live where they live now or maybe move a little closer depending on what they do for new roads.
Construction phase is going to be a mess.

Highway 14 and 27 were a disaster when SASOL was being built in Cameron and everyone was commuting back and forth to Lake Charles. Cameras went up all along the highways to monitor traffic. I can't imagine how bad this will be.

That it is. I don't think Hwy 397 has ever been as busy as it is and now. They are building a man camp on 397 on port property behind Chennault and there is already a bus company in the old Advance Building Materials building with about 40 busses operating to bring people to Cameron. All of that coupled with the new Amazon warehouse opening soon and traffic is nuts there.
Also, I am sure you are enjoying having a daily delay leaving your house with the new roundabout going on

I don't go north of tank farm Rd 6 days a week
