The biggest divide in America is between the rich and the poor.

In the South, rich or poor, there is a good chance you still hunt andor own land, especially if your ancestors were Southerners and farmers/ranchers.

Not the case in the North.

Wrong. The ones who settle into the FL peninsula bitch and moan all day about paying taxes for good schools. They say they did that back in Indiana or Illinois or Ohio or Michigan or PA or NY, NJ... wherever. They didn't come to FL to do more of the same - they came here to retire and live off the fat of the land. They are like locusts, sucking the best of FL dry.

BTW, there is no state income tax in FL to fund schools, so there is property tax and that does help. They vote down every proposed millage to help schools. But they want to buy RE cheap, flip or sell high to more of their kind, and to hell with education. Or civic improvement, or whatever might enhance the communities in which they settle. They resent being around younger families and establish "55 and older" communities and condos to live in. I'm 68 but I call those places "old people ghettoes" and much prefer being around mixes of old, young, kids, teens, marrieds, singles than just the ancient of days.

In Bradenton, it is truly rare to find anybody who is a native Floridian, or even a native Southerner. It's almost all midwest or up east or Canadian/Euro or Latino transplants. And yes, there is also Cultcha.

These transplants make fun of anybody who has a Southern inflection (drawl) to their speech and equate us with ignorant, racist, backward, barefoot, inbred "Dukes of Hazard" or Justin Wilson Cajun caricatures. They argue that because I am from Louisiana I must be Cajun, and because I speak with a New Orleans accent that I can't be from the South.

Experts on everything. At best it is all annoying.

I went to a high school with about half transplants and about half Texans/southerners and most of the transplants hated everything about country living... And Texas.

Miswestern transplants in Tampa area helped Trump win Florida.
