Has anyone done coring to test for heavy metals before civilization moved in?
With the soft sediments in the center of Lake Maurepas, it should be easy to establish base lines.

Your continued involvement is no longer in the best interest of the Air Products Lake Maurepas Monitoring Project,
Looks like you have the complete answer.

Looks like SLU stole one out and LSU’s playbook when they did something to a guy who said something they didn’t want getting out.

that traced many of the pollutants to industrial and agricultural activities along the Blind, Tickfaw and Amite rivers that feed into Lake Maurepas. The heavy metal concentrations found in the lake are similar to those detected after breaks in the waste containment levees at the Atlantic Alumina (Atalco) facility in Gramercy last year. Atalco’s toxic metals — which also included arsenic, cadmium and lead, among others

How is the science department guy going to get that cushy $350k yr consulting job for the plants with these kind of results.

And somehow these metals from decades of pollution by the locals and upstream farmlands, will be blamed on Air Products by the locals.
I would like to know the level of these chemicals 5, 10, 20 years ago.

That Alumina plant is a perpetual shithole

Anyone with a brain cell knows the entire watershed is a polluted shite hole

Sounds like she went and announced the findings without getting the ok from her bosses or even letting them know. If a company paid for this study, then they can boot her if they choose. Whether they were pleased with the findings or not. Sounds like they weren’t.

those rivers were the location of plants that treated timber for lite poles and railroad ties in the 1920's. A lot of creosote

Already happening, though Air Products hasn’t even begun injection yet.

No way, baw. This is ALL the petrochemical companies’ fault. 100%. The Bucket Brigade and Rise St James has been warning all of you.

Oh that’s already started. They are getting their technical guidance from the owner of a local sporting goods store.

The complete recency bias is hard to overcome. Google the Bayou Bonfucha or Madisonville Superfund sites. To say nothing of decades of homes and camps dumping everything into the rivers that feed the lakes.

Typical of the political establishment nowadays….anyone who won’t lie about bad news gets terminated immediately.
