Let’s settle this. Take out Houston and Dallas proper. Not comparing job markets. Which region is superior?

Southeast Tx you have lush forests and coastal marshes with prairies sprinkled in there. High humidity. Lot of rain typically. Closer geographically to SA, Hill Country and South LA.

North Tx you have plains and rolling hills with numerous lakes. Not much forest. High wind. Some rain but much dryer than it’s counterpart. Geographically on an island compared to its counterpart.

What do y’all think

It's still Texas. Major drawbacks.

Is this like who would win in a fight?

I'll take Southeast all day. Those ladies in Orange alone would take out Dallas.

The Conroe/Woodlands area all day.

I’m not sure what it is about people from the Dallas area, but there is a perception of the Jones’s. They’re constantly competing to see who has the best material shite.

Southeast TX has a couple good lakes but what are you calling North Texas? Are you referring to the area surrounding DFW?

Dallas is too close to OK. Houston too close to LA.

That's considered Houston, not SE Texas.

Southeast Vs North TX doesn't make sense, I am not a native to Texas but this is how I divide it up.

I live in NE Texas. I'm covered up with forest. I then assume NTx for you is the savanna north and west of DFW?? Anyway NTX is superior to the backwaters and slums of SETX.

Still hard to believe that the Texas hill country/central Texas isn’t as popular as Dallas and Houston.

Way nicer/different terrain than North and SE Texas. Overall nicer weather and also a robust job market with San Antonio and Austin being the economic hub.

It's actually more popular as Austin-San Antonio has been the fastest growing metro area for some time now. The real estate there is also noticeably more expensive.

as a lifelong Texan that grew up in West Texas and then moved to Temple, TX 15 years ago that thought going to Dallas for Cowboys, Rangers, and Six Flags was the height of living for a long time...

give me SE Texas and the swampass all day over the soulless concrete jungle of DFW.

as mentioned above, i moved to Temple (about 45 miles north of Austin) 15 years ago. When we went to Austin growing up in the 80s and 90s it was a decent sized town around 400k, It's a million now and that's pretty crazy to think of.

there used to be a lot of country side between Austin and Buda, then Kyle to San Marcos, and SM to New Braunfels. now the only area that is remotely unpopulated is a little blip between the outlet malls and the Buccees.

Staggering growth.

Well the hill country is massively more popular than either metroplex. There’s just not enough jobs to go around that would put the hill country in the same boat as the metroplexes.

I think it’s widely considered as the best part in the entire state. That’s why I skipped straight to North Tx vs SETX

I would take East central Texas. Good deer hunting, close to Toledo Bend, Caddo Lake, Lake Fork, etc.

No it’s not. I said Houston proper so all DFW and Houston suburbs are up for grabs as far as pros.

IMO no DFW suburb comes close to The Woodlands and Conroe areas. That’s just me though. I love the terrain. It’s my preference if you have to be in that sprawl setting.

So Deep East Tx? Like Lufkin and Nacogdoches areas? Love it.

Not a bad map. I’ve never called that area of SoTX the “South Texas Plains.” In Corpus Christi, we are Gulf Coast, but also lumped in with South Texas. So…maybe having the plains makes sense.

I’ve also never really heard of a “Prairies and Lakes” area. I think the top part of that, and westward into a little bit of the panhandle would be “North Texas”, and the southern part of Prairies and Lakes would be absorbed into the other neighboring regions.

What do you consider Southeast Tx? In my mind it’s south of Hwy 90 and bordered by LA in the east and the Colorado River in the west. North of 90 is shitty pine trees (East Texas) and west of the Colorado is a much drier climate. Take out Houston and there isn’t a great deal going on.
