I wonder if flights are going to be delayed or canceled in New Orleans
Hell, who knows these days? Nashville had flights going in and out as a tornado warned storm (with a confirmed tornado) was within 15 minutes of the airport. They got great data from those planes, though.

Is this going to affect my flight to Punta Cana?

I absolutely can’t stand that count. Always derails threads about her “hubby” working in Texas or always letting everyone know about her special needs son.

They just cancelled classes in SWLA for all surrounding schools and McNeese.

Odd time to do it since it’s already storming here.

11:45 dismissal, but it hasn’t been bad at all in Lake Charles

100%!
So glad I'm not the only one she annoys the shite out of with that. Regardless of what the weather event is, she brings up both of those subjects constantly throughout every thread.

6 of 8 pumps down at S&WB Lower Ninth Ward drainage station 5, only station for the n'hood. They provide 2/3rds of the drainage capacity for the L9. Their power cables were vandalized. S&WB contractor is racing to fix tonight
La Illuminator
What’s broken more the New Orleans S&wB pumps or the McDonald’s shake machine?

Western part of the parish is getting slammed right now.

My cousin’s roommate’s uncle’s girlfriend’s ex-husband is in New Orleans today and he just sent me this. TIFWIW but I think it’s legit. Flooding must be bad.

Pretty much on schedule right now. Definitely a tale of low level flow at this point, which is expected. Strong low level southeasterly winds dragging moisture into the SE TX area, and that is seen on surface obs. Those winds are still expected to shift as the surface low progresses, shifting flow to a more southerly direction.
As a result, temps and dews are, as expected, struggling right now across southern LA. We mostly have sub-60° dews and temps in the low 60s under cloudy skies. There may not be quite as much slop on radar as modeled at this point. We will have to watch that trend, as it would lead to more breaks in the clouds that would help with destabilization later.
Observed soundings from this morning show strong shear and weak lapse rates from Brownsville over to NOLA.
ETA: Already gusting to near 30 here in north AL.

I wonder if EBR schools didn’t do early dismissal because of bus driver shortages?

Is Lake Charles even in the warned zone?

Yep, my Davis shows a dewpoint of 52 and a temp of 58. That won't produce severe weather.

In a couple hours it will be 0.7 inches of rain and a gentle breeze.

They're so damn sensitive over there. I got a warning years ago because I said, "who's this weirdo" in response to someone saying they didn't want snow.
I think it's a bunch of retirees with a few actual meteorologists there so they can't handle real life humor. They'd stroke out if they ventured over here.
