After age 70, you should have to retake the test at intervals of like every couple years.
At least annually would be better. When they start going down hill it often happens quickly.

Try driving in Florida when the snow birds come back. It’s terrifying.

I live in the largest retirement community in the world. When you go out on the road or out in your golf cart, you have to be prepared for anything because something happens everytime you go out.
Even at 72 myself I am in favor of any rule that would help weed out the people that should no longer be behind the wheel.

I'm almost 77, my wife is 76, this week I'm going to test drive a Tesla model Y, intend on paying $100 a month for self driving. My skills are still pretty good, but my neck is fused, so my mobility is limited, I have to plan my routes. That's why my car barely gets 3K miles annually.
This is the way. Full self drive is going to save many lives…elderly, new drivers, and people with disabilities, huge impact

We use half the church parking lot to line up for carpool in the morning and afternoon.
When mass or a funeral or something happening in the church overlaps with carpool, some of those poor elderly folks short circuit and frick the whole thing up. Then you get the moms that have to be at travel ball and dance all pissed off.
It’s a sight to behold.

Agree. And yearly anyone under 21, too. I’ve seen a lot of accidents by high school drivers during after school is out. Teens are as bad as old people.

Young drivers are as bad or worse than the elderly.
Statistics, which are pretty easy to find, say teenagers are by far the most likely to cause crashes and the safest age group is 60-69.
Someone mentioned that taking the elderly off the road meant helping them by running errands or driving them to appointments. I had to do that for my mom -- and I lived 100 miles away. Her motor skills were fine, but I was afraid she would get confused or lost. It wasn't necessarily easy, but you only have one mother and I wish I could still run her to her hairdresser once a week.
