This is why we hide it in the US. It would cease immediately if it were televised. As hateful as we like to pretend we are no one wants to watch another person die...

Speak for yourself.

Televise it. There is visceral pleasure in seeing someone get what they've given. Also- the stark reality of televised death may be a deterrent to some.

So who is going to do it? Who is going to beat someone to death with a baseball bat and go home to the wife and kids?

I'd give the family members first dibs. I think more than a few would be willing. There's a difference between murder and killing. Some people, namely murderers, need killing.

How it is that soooo many people will stand flat footed and say that the government is incapable of doing anything correctly EXCEPT killing its citizens is a serious mystery that needs solving.....

Are people not allowed to type the word “killed” on X?

You are allowed to, but the algorithm will limit the reach of posts with such wording

Thank you.
Should not be able to pick the way you die if you kill someone.

This is the compromise I offer to those against the death penalty. Capital punishment is only used in cases where it’s 100% irrefutable, and there is a max of 1 appeal
I don't get the appeal if it's indeed 100.

I mean I guess that can be used if there is some sort of mental capacity component, but I’m good with no appeals as well.

Yes. By definition a convicted 1st degree murderer has been found guilty. That a percentage of those convicted have been “exonerated” is a feature not a bug. That is why there is an extensive appeal process.

I also think that “exonerated” is a strong word that doesn’t apply to all situations in which a convicted murderer is given post conviction relief of has their sentence reduced. Often times the new evidence is sufficient to create reasonable doubt, not proof of innocence.

Again, I think there are reasonable arguments against the death penalty. I just disagree with the notion that anyone who is antiabortion should also be anti death penalty.

Yeah, I really hope I get through the rest of my life without committing a crime that would lead to a death sentence, but firing squad really isn’t a bad way to go. Guillotine doesn’t seem like a bad choice either.

Sorry for partying.

An eye for an eye. The way you kill someone should be the way you're killed.

He was convicted for brutality beating his in-laws to death by a baseball bat. Maybe he should get the same treatment

This is absolutely the way I would want it. It honestly seems like the best option.

It's quick (and therefore humane).

It's cheap.

It's reliable.
