I suspect that Dawson’s Creek, like Bayou Fountain, is getting backed up because they have no place to go as development closer to the EBR/Ascension line continues unchecked and all the runoff overcomes the bullshite retention ponds in these new developments.
But hey, a few developers (and likely a few Metro Council and Planning Commission members) have made bank.

Not sure about Dawson's creek, but last week I was driving down Corporate and looked at Ward's creek and the weeds were 6 ft. high throughout the entire thing.
I thought that if we had some monsoon rains, it would not be able to drain the area properly and flooding would result from the city's negligence in keeping it cut.

It rained real real bad in mid city br today and kept raining for several hours straight. I’m really not surprised.

I don’t think that’s it. That corner was a WalMart + Books a Million + massive parking lot in the 90s and flooding wasn’t an issue. It’s more likely something downstream from there.

A Greenway so the homeless can get around easier

Running morale of BRPD into the ground
Trying to make people wear masks

I'd put a hard eye on the new warehouse/office development on the NW side of Balis, on the Walmart side of the tracks.

Dawson has been flooding the parking lot of the office building by Outback since at least the 90s. But flooding up to the Interstate is relatively new. Probably hasn't been dredged in a long time.

It rained yesterday hard, but it was not a regional event such that water would back up the Amite tributaries; Manchac, Wards Creek, Bayou Fountain, etc. For Acadian to flood with a relatively small amount of rain is not something that should happen.
Now I realize it rain very hard there for a short time, but it didn’t rain nearly as hard downstream; not did it rain Saturday. The Dawson basin is Flooding more than ever.

The area around that new Ochsner Hospital was redesigned to help the developer. That could be it. That and Perkins Rowe and the outer Mall stores. It had to be something since 2000 causing this.
