It’s basically a rapper who gets their start by releasing tracks on the streaming platform SoundCloud. Usually SoundCloud rappers though have a distinct style that’s a little different than your mainstream rap.

I really agree with you there. XXXTentacion was truly talented. The way he was able to create songs of so many genres and put so much emotion in his music was special.

Absolutely this. He was a great songwriter. The best songwriters can make you feel their emotion, and he was definitely a troubled person with a lot of issues and acted out on them in some terrible ways in his personal life, but he was able to turn that anger and depression into some great music and really made you feel it.
That's one of the reasons I love old school country so much. It may not be the best stuff instrumentally but guys like Merle, Waylon, Willie, and Cash were second to none lyrically.
