I’m talking a passive situation where you’re watching someone attack someone else without being squared up or focused on you.

As soon as he’s knifing that girl I’m drawing with the assumption I might be next.

I saw two dudes harassing and pushing an old black woman who was pushing a shopping cart in SW downtown Shreveport. I was 100 yards away, but I had my Belgian Malinois with me. I let him go knowing that he would run to the commotion (which he did). The two guys took off before the dog got there.

Its also why men like you will bring your family to my place for protection if shite ever hits the fan.

Your time here on earth is but a fleeting moment.

For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne’er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Saint Crispin’s day.

I saw a husband beating the shite out of his wife outside of a bar one night and due to poor judgment and alcohol, I decided to intervene.
I pulled him off of her before he killed her and of course he wanted to fight me.
I tried to avoid it, but he hit me first so I put him down.
I was walking away when his wife ran up behind me and hit me with a beer bottle.
Got 8 stitches and a scar over my eyebrow to show for my generosity.

So, now age and wisdom has led me to not getting involved in other people's bullshite.

That is TV. And stories they tell people to get them to join the military.

I assume that you would also swim by yourself out to save someone who was drowning.

I’m not sure how I would react in that situation. I guess you will never know unless you experience it. I would like to think that I would help but survival instinct might kick in and override it. I have to admit that I am kind of a coward. I would hope that righteous anger would give me the ability to override my fears and confront the situation.

Absolutely. However, I would glance around first, for someone who might be a better swimmer than me.

I'm not confronting a man with a knife unless I also have a weapon of my own of some sort. In general, I'm not stepping into a physical altercation unless I have reason to believe their life is in danger if I dont step in. Otherwise, I will stand by and call 911.

But people do it all the time. They run into burning buildings, take down planes heading to Washington, etc. Heroes do exist. It's just not you apparently.

In one of the train photos, there were at least six able-bodied men in that car. Are we really to believe that not one of them could intervene or even check on a dying young woman? What’s most shocking is the three individuals closest to her... no one screamed, called 911, or even moved. It’s staggering.

You are a coward and a despicable human being. I have four daughters and would not even hesitate for a second to help someone else who might be in danger. Why, because I was raised correctly and helping is the right thing to do.

You should be ashamed for this post and your flawed thought process.

You do the right thing, every damn time.

Bad call. People who are drowning will push their rescuers under water and drown them also. No professional would ever recommend that an amateur swim out to someone who is drowning.

My point: Be heroic, but don’t be foolish.

Emotional response. In fact, emotion is clouding your interpretation of the OP.

Have you ever asked them if they would rather you be dead, or a stranger?

Yes, if a 100lb woman who can’t defend herself is being stabbed. He’s lucky he was where he was. I would’ve stabbed him with my knife, no questions asked I’ll ask the jury for leniency (if carrying was allowed I wouldve had zero issue shooting him). I'm not going to watch someone get stabbed to death

You’re a good man but unfortunately you wouldn’t have been able to help the young woman in Charlotte. There was no escalation or tension or threat of what was to come. It was unprovoked and immediate. Granted, you wiping him out immediately after would save our legal system a lot of time and money, but unfortunately you’d be in a world of shite for doing what should have been done.

you're a part of the problem with society. once you admit it, it will be easier to understand why you are selfish.
