My kid loves Taylor Swift. I don’t get it either but taking into account all the musical acts out there, Taylor is the “safest” so I’m alright with it.

Shes pretty enough to be a popular girl in any social setting, she also is very talented. She creates songs that women like herself enjoy. Not everyone wants to listen to redneck country or death metal. She fills her lane with sellable songs.

I'm probably older than you...OP!
Maybe she's popular because she's not a fat, overly sexualized, tattooed slut that young girls can look up to! Good for her.

Her EXTREMELY wealthy father financed her career and she makes music for entitled American Millenial White girls who think they're oppressed so I also see why so many people find her irritating.
You are the blind men and the elephant.
She is not just popular with young women, but middle aged, and old as well.
I know many women past 60 who are "Swifties" and tour like those who followed "The Grateful Dead"

Maybe because she is pretty singer and sings about topics young women relate to. Not everything is about looks and sexuality.

Its no different than pop mega stars from the past.
Maddona
Britney Spears
The Boy band era
Beyonce
Sometimes these pop stars reach a level where it becomes a runaway train. In reality someone like Madonna or Brittany are no more better looking or talented than dozens of others, they just catch lightening in a bottle, string together some hits and it explodes.

Kinda looks like that dog that won worlds ugliest dog a few years back.

Some of her tunes are pretty good and at least she isn't recording "sloppy pussy" or some of that other shite that seems to be popular.

She also can't dance

Both were selling “sex appeal” much more than Tay Tay.
I think a lot of people have hit on Swift’s appeal. She’s made herself more “palatable” long term (and, hence, in a more broad reaching manner) than those two were able to do, probably in large part because she is less overt in that area than they were.

She looks awkward as hell. The bangs. Plain as can be. Lacks any ounce of sexuality.
This is a weird statement. Some of you guys need help.

No different other than Taylor swift actually writes her own music and plays instruments.

i would say the diffence is that Taylor Swift is more focused on her music, or branded herself as such.
Britney spears and boy bands were distilled by the dying record labels and MTV
Maddona and Beyonce are more concerned with being a celebrity
Beyonce is also touring and tickets are going for a 1/3 of Taylor Swift tickets. I think that is large part because Swift actually cares about her show and seemingly puts on a good one. Where Beyonce has been going thru motions for years now, not that i blame her.
