I get it. For a competition that shooter, yes it is completely unnecessary. But for joe blow to put rounds on targets quickly without being very active at a range. It absolutely makes sense.

Y’all are talking about Operators and competition shooters. That’s not what happened. Unless all of the reports of a gamer kid were wrong. The kid obviously wasn’t a “real” shooter hence the laser. I have been following the story via OT. I have not seen anywhere that it was confirmed that Trueboy was the one that beat him. All I have seen is that he lost and decided to take it out on fellow gamers.

True but the values behind it certainly Have. It's one thing to watch a murderer hang, it's quite another to seek out videos of random people dead or dying.
While I don't think this creates murderers by itself, the desensitization and attention do seem to be a factor and these mass shootings in schools etc seem to parallel the rise of the internet and social media
