See, that's my dilemma. I don't necessarily hate my job, but I don't look forward to it either.

my uncle was in a bad accident, had to get 2 spine surgeries , rehab and out of work for nearly a year.

in total, after all the lawyer fees he took him over a million. his work offered him to come back still, he ended up taking it. said the same thing, he doesn't hate it nor love it, but its a good paying job that makes more than anything else he could do.

Some time next year, my wife willget a good chunk of change from a real estate deal from an inheritance. I have a retirement through the military and will have some real decisions to make for sure.

Take the money. I would then sit down with a good financial advisor and come up with a plan for my future.

Yep. I'd kiss the pipeline goodbye. Wouldnt even be mad.

Probably go open a chain of RV parks in Lake Charles, Corpus Christi, and Odessa. Retire out in the Hill Country of Texas

I buy a cabin with a lot of land and finish out my days farming/building furniture/woodworking, live off the interest of what's left over.

Take a little break and then go find another nursing job in a different nursing field.

Easy
That's cheating.

The field is nursing.

So I have 1.5 after all taxes?

1. Quit my job
2. Pay off house
3. Build walk in safe in my house and pull all money out of the bank.
4. Divorce my wife.
5. Have her sign up for all government services as a single woman with no income.

Live life.

We'll never see what we paid into SS so I'm gonna get mine a few years early.

Take it. I can find another job.

And that's just to keep myself occupied. It's easily enough for me to retire.
