I am looking at buying the new EGO Cordless Self Propelled 56V Mower. A buddy has it and its awesome. I'm just not mechanically inclined and I like the idea of the electric.
Not counting the house, patio, driveway, etc., I have somewhere around 8000 square feet of actual lawn that needs to be mowed.
The EGO says it can mow 2 miles on a single charge. So 10,560 feet x 1.75 feet wide deck = 18,480 square feet on a single charge.
Does that sound right?

They don't make much sound. It's electric.

Waiting for Tesla to make a mower.

What kind of grass are you cutting? That doesn't seem like a large yard.
I looked at that mower as well, I have probably half of your yard area. I opted for a fiskers manual reel mower and it works well for my St Augustine yard.
I have all battery powered equipment (blower, edger, weed eater) and they work well for my limited yard. I would worry about cutting grass that is too high or thick with a battery powered.
As I graduated years before common core, I wouldn't trust me to tell you if your math is right or not.

Yes. You'll be able to mow your lawn twice-over on a singe charge.
Probably depends on how thick your grass is.

One thing we don't ever buy are electric mowers and weed eaters. They are pieces of shite.

So are you assuming you make perfect 1.75 foot passes and never pick it up or move it back and forward to hit a missed spot?

Anyone who would own a self-propelled, electric mower is a woman by default.

I used an electric mower in the 1950s to mow my aunt's yard - just had to make sure I didn't run over the cord.

I dunno, my battery-powered weedeater is great, and really light, and can walk outside, spend ten seconds trimming around the mailbox, and not smell like gasoline. And mine is a cheap NiCad-battery powered one, so I keep a battery on the charger right by the back door. Lithium ions can just sit up for weeks without losing charge, making the solution even more maintenance free.
The motor is weak for sure, but I only need it to cut through grass. Only reason I haven't gone electric with the lawn mower is because I have trees in the front and back yard, and random thick vegetation in the back yard. I just assume that for a yard like mine, electric just wouldn't...cut it.
I'm not a fan of yard work, at all, but too cheap/poor to hire someone. So I at least try to make that obligation as maintenance-free as possible.

Not loud enough to mask the sound of your vagina flaps.

I had a Great Uncle* with one like his one (below).
It allegedly built character to cut his huge lawn with it.
*My Grandfather's brother, not particularly a great guy.

My guess is it can mow 2 miles on a single charge in "absolutely perfect ideal conditions " in a perfectly straight line with a little downslope the entire way. In other words, that's not how people cut grass and it's not how yards are designed.
