I’ve always wondered about that. Such an odd thing in an odd location.

isn't the i10 bridge so unsafe that shell doesn't allow its employees to drive over it? that's all i know about lake charles.

This is the dumbest shite I’ve read about LC since I’ve been posting here.

LC sucks. And I live here. I’ll get out whenever I can and as often as I can.

A lightening strike just started a fire at an LNG plant... so there's that.

I lived there back before the hurricane so I understand it has changed a lot and it was pretty shitty even back then. But I will say this I’ve lived a lot of places and I think back on LC fondly more than probably any other place I’ve lived. It really has a certain unique charm to it I have never found any place else if you can get past the regular industrial accidents, the weather, the trashy people, the crime, the abysmal education and healthcare system, the sleazy lawyers, et cetera.

Make a pass by Famous Foods and grab a bag of wet cracklings. Catch a Thursday steak night at Loggerheads. Head down to Rockefeller and catch you some fresh blue crabs.

Quit beating around the bush and just ask.

How much of a chance do I have of being murdered there? And for reference, I live in Bettin Rudge.

I spent most of my childhood in Sulphur and have good memories of Lake Charles. That was many years ago, though.

Not a terrible suggestion.
La Truffe Sauvage is as good a restaurant as any- fine dining, expensive, French.
Mazen’s is very good (filet with a 3-wine reduction sauce, but ask them to serve it on a cast iron/sizzle plate. The fish options and the lamb are also great)
Raja’s is a decent Indian place with a lunch buffet if you’re into trying little bits of stuff you’re too chicken to order.
The ground ribeye burger at Cousin’s is fantastic, though it’s an awfully weird place to go to if you haven’t been there.
There’s a gas station-turned-taco place called Victoria’s on Broad St. it’s closed some portion of the year. If it’s open, very good breakfast tacos. If it’s closed, moderate risk of crossfire from the surrounding neighborhood that’s pretty dicey.
KD’s is the Louie’s of Lake Charles, but it’s not as good.

There are a couple of lakefront parks that are nice, particularly the one south of the 210 bridge.
The Casinos have normal casino stuff (bars, restaurants, shopping, pools, music, and bus loads of retired Houston inhabitants in for the night, week, or weekend).
Downtown isn’t much to look at, but it’s generally safe.

So that means SE Louisiana and the MS Coast can form our own state?
