I don't really care about any of this social media nonsense, I'm just here to say that Del Porto is the most overrated restaurant in the Northshore

Which one, current or former (Villere)?

The current mayor I don’t have a read on yet, although he seems quite personable (the St. Peter’s School / Acquistapace’s debacle is my only complaint). I believe him to be more than capable based on what I have seen so far.

Mayor Villere and I have different political views. However, I have always thought very highly of him. I am of the opinion that he had a major role in what Covington has become. Imho, he was a visionary. Personal politics aside, he should be commended for his foresight. Just my .02.

That restaurant lives off of the hotel. None of them care what she thinks about stuff

Still is and I think he’s is doing and will continue to do a fantastic job. Tired of the career politicians.

That restaurant was there long before the hotel. I recall two dry overcooked meals there 6 and 7 years ago. Meh.

The hotel will feed her business.

Locals should be careful though. No way I trust that woman in the kitchen with my meal. Spit would be the least of what she’s doing to your meal!

I live in Covington and eat there no less than 12 times a year. Trust me when I tell you...she is fricked. About the dumbest shite I have ever heard someone post. Not a metaphor, just pure liberal anarchist talking points.

Bye biotch.

So many of the positive responses were from people outside of covington/mandeville area. There’s no way Del Porto’s will be able to get a regular crowd to come in from the south shore or Baton Rouge.

If you're looking for a great meal in Covington:
1) LOLA
2) Meribo (owned by an LSU guy)
3) OxLot 9
4) Toad Hollow

That is in the hands of the council. There is nothing he can do on that.

She is getting people to reply back that they will go support her. Looks like a lot of bad tippers

1) love it
2) love it
3) too exotic for my taste
4) still need to try it

Now back on topic. She may get those customers who come in to support her, but those will be one and done. The repeat customers is what keeps that place open and she may have alienated 90% of them.

Even my wife, (no pics) who is clueless about politics and rarely checks FB, heard about what she posted.

With that said, I’m on the fence about this one. I can’t stand cancel culture and while everyone has the right to boycott her restaurant, are we (those who boycott) doing exactly what the left is doing to Brees, etc.? Why can’t we slow down and have a discussion? Maybe “educate” her as to why her comments are wrong and insensitive. At some point this country forgot how to debate. Just because someone has a different opinion doesn’t mean they are wrong or right or racist.
