I feel the need to clarify my support for Black Lives Matter because I’ve received a lot of phone calls and messages from people that are appalled or angry. My statement that “black people built this country and have a right to burn it down” is a metaphor for the protest and tearing down old systems-- the inherent injustices that are perpetrated upon our brothers and sisters of color. I think this language offended people and without an explanation or someone actually knowing me, I can see that. However, it is simply a METAPHOR for the need to build a MORE FAIR AND JUST SOCIETY.”

At this point, she’s just pouring gasoline on the fire – no pun intended.
She’s not only an ignorant f*cking whack job, she’s also tone deaf.

The comments to her response are full of idiots as well.

Thanks for the update. I no longer live in Covington and was wondering how in the he’ll Acquistapaces got on the wrong side of St. Peters
From what I know of the situation, they arent on the wrong side of St Peters. I think that relationship is perfectly fine.

I agree it was handled poorly by said councilmember. Youth and inexperience with political tact I believe to blame, but honest nevertheless. However what the school is asking for is reasonable and the only people up in arms about it fall into two categories: 1) Neighborhood Karens who want to speak to the manager anytime St. Peters or SSA want to do anything to improve their campuses or the safety of their students and 2) persons with zero dog in the fight who live nowhere near the school who just want to bash private/catholic schools.
The opposition raised hell earlier in the year that they wanted the state AG to render an opinion on the matter to prevent a vote by the council before the next election. So that happened and guess what - The AG said the council has the legal authority to grant the measure. If it passes the net effect on the general public outside of the school will be nil.
One of the ringleaders of the opposition is Rick Smith, former councilman and recent failed mayoral candidate who literally lives one house off the corner of the proposed school time closure. He is currently running for the council again. If he wins, will it be considered a conflict of interest if he votes on the matter given his personal stake in the outcome?
The only money Aquistapaces stands to lose from this is the lost business from those who will no longer shop there because of the position they have taken.
Agree Mark Johnson is doing a good job. Very visible and works 25 hours a day.Took full advantage of COVID lack of vehicular traffic and got alot of deferred work done on the sewer and water systems. Also is trying to retool CPD and get raises for the officers.

Basically, at least to me, the letter illustrated that there was a conflict of interest.

Although it's not on real French bread, Aquistapaces makes an incredible roast beef poboy. Most of their sandwiches are really good and reasonably priced.

I admit it was a poor take but I'm just so sick of this revolving door of online pitchfork crusades and everyone crying about shite that doesn't have to be their business. If you don't like it, move on with your life, and stop crying. (not necessarily directed at you notiger)

I can stipulate to that. I find the entire issue unfortunate and unnecessary. They also have the best bourbon selection anywhere.

There are tons of local businesses within steps of del Porto. It’s a legitimate gripes against her public post

I feel like Capitalism will speak and this will sort itself out. Talking shite on Facebook isn’t doing anything. Don’t like her comments, don’t eat there, don’t drink there, and don’t get take out there.
Same thing for the bakery who refused to bake a wedding cake for a gay wedding and now again for a trans wedding. Clearly people supported his POV and business has boomed. If people have a problem with this ladies POV, the most effective way to show that is to let her go out of business.
And she likely will. Not a time to be rocking the boat as a business owner considering the economic climate. Lessons learned.

I have been waiting for your take on this. But my translation of her statement was more like “I don’t really believe this excuse I am writing but my husband / business partner is so pissed he is making me do it. So I am manufacturing this “metaphor” thing as a way to let people know I hold them in contempt and think they are stupid enough to buy it.” She basically says that people were stupid to not divine her alleged intention in the first place.
At least when she made the original statement I could respect her integrity for stating her beliefs. Now that she faux reversed position, I view her as not only a leftist loon but also a liar and spineless.

judging by the fb response, she has nothing to worry about.
