In WW2 imperial system kicked ALL of metric system’s arse. Besides, look where metric system countries (EU) are now compared to imperial.

And we say "Aluminum", pronounced "Ah-lu-min-um" while the Brits claim it's "Aluminium" pronounced "Al-u-min-eum"

Two countries separated by a common language.

The best comment on the metric system still belongs to P.J. O’Rourke in his brilliant essay Among the Euroweenies. He said, “Our bank accounts are bigger than your piss-ant metric numbers go.”

Well there is a "metric ton" which is 1,000 kilograms so technically a "ton" of bricks still applies.

I'm generally well liked.

The larger point being that if hit by a tonne of bricks or a ton of bricks, I don't think the extra 40 pounds (or 18.14kg) would make much of a difference.

Hot take, the Brits are wrong. They stuck us with this damn language and the imperial system. Then they go and change to try and act all superior.

But worse than that, they use the metric system for everything but distance and speed.

I once saw it described as, metric system is for science, imperial system is for people.

When it involves mass or force I always do my calculations in metric. Then I convert to imperial if needed. I just don't want to bother with the whole pound, slug thing.

“.095 Euros for your thoughts”

“I’ll buy that for a Euro”

“That’s not worth a plug .05 Euro”

Just some more useless money talk.

There is a “euro cent”. I think they simply call it a “cent”.

So it would be “a cent for your thoughts” I guess.

This probably makes me “that guy”.

How would football change if the yard was replaced yards with meters.

So now the field is a little wider and it takes a few more feet to make a 1st down if using 10 meter first downs.
