You'd say wrong. 200 yards is further than you think. Think about how far you can throw a football and multiply that times ten.

This "throwing a football" thing gets brought up a bunch. Can you pussies really only throw a football 20 yards? I could do that in fricking middle school

If this kid is who I think he is, he comes from a long line of fratstars, and his aunt was the Sweetheart of one of the Old Row fraternities. I imagine they're all pretty fricking embarrassed by him.

I didn't say how far I could throw a football, I said how far YOU could throw a football.

This is just blatantly false. Pick-up trucks are the most utilitarian personal vehicle you can buy. I use my truck bed at least once a week to haul stuff.

But when I see a heavy-duty pickup on campus, I tend to think, "that guy either has a camper, boat, or does some form of agricultural work."

I drove a 1500 in HS, college and now and think this article is absolutely awful. But with that said, when I was at LSU and I saw a heavy duty on campus, 9 times out of 10 I thought "he comes from money and got the truck he told his dad to buy him". You can tell the ones used for work vs the ones used to show off. Most are the latter.

I have a blown tire in the back of my truck I'd like this kid to try and stick in his Miata. Also have about 400lbs worth of toolbox and tools he could jam in the trunk.

Nothing says "unnecessary" like the bed of a truck to load and haul items in.

What a count

You can only throw a ball 10 yards though. And its not even a spiral. And you look all... gay.

Do dads not teach this stuff anymore? Is it a millennial thing?

My dad physically couldn't drive a manual. The only person in my family that had one was one of my grandfathers that lived in a different city. Needless to say, I never learned how to drive one and I don't have the need to learn it now.

You should go slap your father in the face for failing you. I'd say punch but that's probably asking too much.

Absolutely no doubt about this. In college I had a 2 door 4x4 Silverado with my 33" mud tires (actually a pretty awesome truck to park on campus and then never have to worry about getting asked to drive to the bar). I was hunting a lot at the time. Used my bed semi-regularly.

Then I graduated and got a job. Fiancé lived out of town, so I spent most weekends travelling to visit. Rarely made it to the camp. But I bought a truck, because I always had a truck. Big full sized Z71. After a few years, I realized I RARELY utilized the bed (marriage, kids, work, moving all put a stop to getting to the camp every single weekend). Ended up in an SUV and a car to commute to work. My balls did not fall off and I have no issues getting stuff done. You can rent a truck from Home Depot down the road for like $19 if you really need one. .

I don't have anything against trucks, I may end up in one again. But I probably am more outdoorsy (biking, hunting, fishing) and do it yourself than 50% of people with trucks and I get by just fine without one for right now. There is definitely a stigma in the Southern states that you "need" a truck. It's just not true for most. Wanting a truck is certainly okay, but a lot don't need it.
