Ascension Parish roads may be worse. It's close. I drive both parishes every day visiting clients and I can't believe what I see sometimes. Sub-par roads, meth heads, super-aggressive 20 something plant workers in trucks, etc.
To me it's not only the idea that I might get killed that bothers me, it's the thought of the worthlessness of the person likely to kill me. Where's the dignity in being killed by a toothless 50 year old meth head that lives in a travel trailer behind his cousins house.

FWIW, she was unrestrained. She shouldn't have been put in this situation because the guy shouldn't have been driving drunk, but protect yourself by wearing a seatbelt people. Accidents are a lot worse without one, and a lot of accident-related deaths are preventable with a seatbelt. And don't drive drunk either, but I feel like I don't have to tell that to this board

Parents, instill in your kids how important it is to wear their seatbelt. You can't control other people, but you can mitigate risks.

What makes you any more special in God's eyes?

No worries. Judge Morrison or some other good ol boy will slap that wrist and he will be back on the streets in no time ready to kill somebody else. It's Livingston bro...
Kinda surprising. Probably get a harsher sentence for selling a dime bag. In New Orleans a 20 yr prison sentence seems common for vehicular homicide.

Notice that whenever there is a shooting, the media wants to ban guns.
Whenever someone dies in a traffic accident, I never see anyone suggest we ban automobiles......
CDC.GOV
Motor vehicle traffic deaths
•Number of deaths: 33,804
All firearm deaths
•Number of deaths: 33,636
P.S.
All poisoning deaths
•Number of deaths: 48,545

10K of those traffic deaths/year are alchohol related, but you can't opress a nation by taking away their booze. if you take away their guns, however.... hence why there's never even a political mention of banning alcohol, even when someone famous dies or id killed because of it. hell they don't even talk about war on drugs any more. gun control is the agenda! push it ti; we win it!

It's pretty simple though. Irresponsible people with alcohol and irresponsible people with guns cause bad outcomes; their irresponsibility is independent of the guns and the alcohol.
And since we can't can ban irresponsible people, and it's irrational to punish the responsible people, then we must focus on avoiding their unfettered interaction rather than your lazy and ignorant strawman.

Very well put!
Several years ago, I saw a documentary on airline safety. The airlines did a study of what happens in a plane emergency. In an emergency, 15% of the people will stand up and direct everyone to a safe exit and ensure everyone gets out safely.
70% of the people will follow instructions but will not take the lead to evacuate safely.
The remaining 15% of people will ignore the safety instructions and turn and walk into danger. They will go towards the exits that are on fire or otherwise not safe for use.
I have seen police studies using 10%/80%/10% for people who will never commit crimes/people who will not commit crimes if supervised/people who will commit crimes no matter what.
The ratios seem to reflect society in many areas.
Why punish 85% of the population because the other 15% is going to screw up no matter what laws you have in place?

You are so full of shite. Watson has always been a tight knit community but has become larger over time just like any other place. Very few "country type folks" even still living. Sorry you so jelly. You must live near the landfill in Walker.

So very sad. I don't know what time it occurred, but a friend of mine knew her and told me about it about 4 pm.
Tell your loved ones to wear seat belts. They don't always save lives, but I read about another accident today in which 3 died not wearing them and were ejected.
