Can we be honest about this no matter how “mean” it might sound......if a business or person, barring long term layoff, was broken because of a month shut down. It/they were doomed anyways. We’ve been shut down for a month not six months or a year. This is what I don’t get. Again if people don’t get their jobs back totally understandable.
It doesn't sound mean, it sounds retarded. You're talking about a business with overhead, not some yo-yo drawing off his personal savings. This isn't the world of Dave Ramsey. This is the world of owning a business, in which right now most are just an empty parking lot with a building, bringing nothing in while steady collecting on a list of which most go out.

I was listening to Jay Ducote's radio show yesterday afternoon, and he was saying that most restaurants operate on a 2-3% profit margin, tops (when business is doing good). Let that sink in for a while and marinate on it.

20k out of the 30k deaths are from Jew York/jersey and DC and Nola.

So around 10k people died over the age of 60 with unferlying health problems to ruin our economy

We've somehow managed to politicize a global pandemic. One group screams that COVID-19 will kill us all and another screams that it's all a hoax. Unfortunately, those are by far the largest two groups in the country.

It's nauseating and we're all fricked no matter how this goes.

DC has less than 100 corona deaths and the DMV has less than 500 as a whole. We are not some hot spot for this virus.

That's why we should err on the side of freedom. I'd rather be fricked and able to live my life as I wish, not how Karen wishes.

You won't live your life as you wish if you're dead.

You really have no clue about running a small business do you?

Yes I’ve ran one for 15 years now and in the business I’m in it’s seasonal so to speak. So I’ve learned to set up a budget to withstand the slow parts. Basic business 101. So yes I know about running a business do you know how to do finances??????

The ignorance inherent in this is so sweeping I hardly know where to start. It is this kind of thinking that has us in this fix.

It’s ignorant not to have a EMERGENCY fund when you have your life tied into something? I know my first year of profits went to paying off debt and setting up a HUGE buffer. What is so inherently ignorant is anyone who didn’t start a business model like this and now is broken without a months pay. A MONTH.

Ehh it's one small area of a giant fricking continent. They deliberately went against the suggested shutdowns at first.
They are the outlier in the country.

But we are two weeks behind Italy still, don't forget about that. Any day now all hospitals will be overloaded and hundreds of thousands will die.

How many employees do you have? And what's their current status? Everyone still employed at their full pay?

People complain about the price of meals or tipping, then think these businesses can sustain with zero revenue. Then they don't think about how much insurance is because those same customers claim fake slip and falls every month.

It wasn't a matter of sympathy.
He's saying these mom and pop businesses should have been prepared, when we have much bigger companies struggling too.

The business owners can have plenty of emergency money for their families. Doesn't mean they'll also be able to pay all their employees in the meantime.

Ohh I completely agree with you and everyone else on this point. Most small businesses don’t make a profit in their first 5 years. And we are purposely tanking them. They need help.

Small Businesses embody the American Dream. We cannot allow them to fail. But good on him for being able to save up and weather these type of storms.
