No one wants to stick up for the child pornographers, but you're a simpleton if you can't see where this technology can go. It's another case of technology outpacing where we are in balancing civil liberties with prosecution and deterrence of crime. A lot of folks will get hung up with the depravity of the perps in this instance, but the technology itself is what is alarming to me.

I do think responsibly deployed law enforcement technology is very much needed as the technology for committing crimes becomes more advanced. That probably goes without saying, but it's a touch situation when technology moves so much faster than the law.

Yet here you are, advocating for the police to commit criminal actions....

Bro, they're all going to be "like the last one". The military-industrial 'security' state is way too big to be controlled by the Office of the Presidency. Too much money and power involved in the status quo for one person to stem the tide.

At this point, I'm not even sure Rand Paul wouldn't be bombing some Middle East shithole within his first year in office.

They caught 100 something people by keeping the site up.

Hypothetically, if they just shut the site down initially and got the 2 people who made the site, would you be ok with that?

This. and who would be dumb enough to register on the site? If I was into that type of garbage, I would think I wouldn't enter my info into the site

Perhaps a naïve question, but was the only thing on that site CP? Could there have been any other reason the sick bastards registered and visited the site?

Going to need to build a few more prisons to house these frickers. Do these pricks even need to go to trial?

It's also disgusting. They violated those children just to catch a few sickos.

215,000 is only considered a few?

Considering it was called "playpen" and on the dark web, no I don't think there was any other reason for people to visit the site.

I am surprised at comments like this, nefarious nature of these crimes notwithstanding. If its breaking or bending the laws for this, then it will be for something else tomorrow. Gotta be very careful with this.
