Not a huge fan of entrapment

This isn't really entrapmemt. This isn't some website that you find on google. This was a .onion site that you pretty much have to seek out. Now if you clicked on the address on /b/ not knowing what it was and saw it and left, you technically didn't do anything wrong. People won't get in trouble for that. They go after the people that are downloading and trading

Read an article documenting that a few weeks ago. Some serious 4th amendment issues raised.

As many as 100,000 users visited the site while it was under FBI control, according to USA Today. Of those, about 1,300 were identified and 137 have been charged with a crime so far.

Just like the undercover cops that solicit prostitutes or sell drugs.

I feel like this is a little different. This is more like a trap car. They were not going up to people and trying to convince them to break a law so they can arrest them.

It might still be somewhat shady, but the hypocrite in me admittedly comes out when it's child porn. Especially if the site's content was user provided.

Not really. The only way to access it is to have a Tor browser anyways, and just having a Tor browser is quasi-illegal. So it isn't really entrapment because the people accessing and downloading the files were already involved in illegal shite.

It would be more outrageous if the FBI was like, "Let's put a link out on facebook and go after anyone who clicks it". That's entrapment. This is just a sting.

Quality of journalism continues to slide. No one proof reads anything now.

"The site was operational Feb. 20 to March 4, 1015."

This line of thinking is idiotic and sadly representative of our government.

Yeah here's some simple advice:

1. Don't go on the deep web. Tor browsers, etc. It's literally just a place for sickos who want to look at child porn, or for people to sell drugs.

2. Don't look at child porn.

Tada, your life is saved.

I've never done anything like that on TOR.

Now military surplus, indeed.

Completely anonymous browsing.

That would be like saying it's quasi illegal to have the ingredients needed to make a homemade bomb in your house, when really you just have them because you have a pool, a barbecue pit, or whatever else would cause someone to need them.

Ummm...privacy? Every other browser has a backdoor in it and/or collects all of your data.

Using it is not "quasi-illegal" in any way.

You're right, it isn't illegal. Happy?

It is just a tool that people can use to do illegal things. I'm the retarded one for wanting to stay away from that?
