you still haven't answered what has changed since Trump won the election and now that you people are protesting?

lots has changed. trump has appointed a cabinet full of people that are unqualified, and in many ways fundamentally opposed to the positions to which they are being appointed. increasing reports of russian interference have cloudied things including republican and democrats calling for investigations. it's not like things have just been calm seas and blue skies.

and people were upset the day after he won the office. it's not that we just forgot for three months. people have been busy. activated. called their congress people. lobbied. made signs. joined the ACLU. donated to planned parenthood.

the day after inauguration is a natural rallying point, so we rallied. to show that we will fight for our common beliefs.

quote:

the reason people are making this a spectacle is because that is all that it was and/or could be. go back and listen to Ashley Judd. if you act like a clown it should come as no surprise when you are perceived to be a clown.

the clowns might have garnered the coverage. but there were just as many people 60+ marching because they believed in the cause. i stood next to a holocaust survivor and her son and their daughter and their granddaughter. i stood next to middle aged black women dressed respectably. i stood next to gays and straights and all classes and religions of people.

they believe what they believe, and they do so with full throat and full voice.

quote:

today y'all spent a great deal of time and energy trying to convince the world that Trump wasn't your President. guess what?
he is.

you're reading a few signs and you think that was the goal?
no. no one thinks that trump isn't our president.
sadly to us, he is. we know he is the president.

the protest is to say that the views and positions espoused by the president is not espoused by us. it is to give the congressman who we voted to office the position of strength that they can check and balance the president on the things on which they disagree. it is to show the dissent and voice of the people that did not vote for him (3% more of people than trump voters) want.

- no repeal of ACA (obamacare) without allowing pre-existing conditions and ensuring coverage of all americans.
- freedom of speech and freedom of press.
- abortion rights as ensured by roe v. wade.
- a num,ber of other women's reproductive rights issues
- immigration policy into U.S. and not restricted by religion or creed
- fair wages and work related and social rights for LGBT and women.
- addressing climate change
- full investigation into the russian hacking and other foreign policy
- funding for the arts

i could go on for days.

these are issues. not partisan politics. and we have a right to voice our disapproval.

and as far as spent a great deal of time and energy trying to convince the world of _____________.

today, i woke up at 7:00 in the morning on a saturday. on my day off. to march with 750,000 people for something we all believe in. there is nothing more american than that.

what did the majority of you do other than wake up, open your computers and insult strangers on the internet?

you call it a waste of time. i call it time well spent. you're just going to have to disagree with me.

Maybe we should just leave Obama care as it is and see how that works for you.

Good, government waste is out of control and agencies such as the EPA have way more overreach than what they were originally enacted to do.

And those would be?? A large group of people were diametrically opposed to what Obama stood for but I don't remember protest in the streets some of which turned violent.

Like what?

The media dished out as much dirt on Trump as the hacks revealed on the DNC. If anything it leveled the field against the biased media that had no desire to dig into Clinton.

Party of tolerance except when you lose. Imagine the outrage after Obama was elected if there was a protest march. They would be labeled racists and every other "-it's" under the sun. Oh wait, they already are anyway.

Is this still a thing? The media has beat this to death and finally gave up. It's called the Electoral College and this prevents the state of CA or the city of New York from deciding elections.

This is what gets me. You and similar throw out issues without facts to base these claims on.

ensuring coverage of all americans.
This exists already and it's called Medicaid. Everyone will be able to purchase insurance, same as now.

- freedom of speech and freedom of press.

And how has Trump threatened this?
quote:

abortion rights as ensured by roe v. wade.

Has he said he would seek to change this?

Like what?

immigration policy into U.S. and not restricted by religion or creed

There is a policy. It's just not enforced. He's going to enforce the law.
quote:

- fair wages and work related and social rights for LGBT and women.

Doesn't he employ women at highest positions and pay them at his company better than the national average or something? What other work related and social rights has he threatened?
quote:

- addressing climate change

We've had 8 years to do this. Why wasn't it addressed?
quote:

- full investigation into the russian hacking and other foreign policy

Meh. Ok so then what? Hacking probably occurs all the time.
quote:

- funding for the arts

Clearly, a role of the federal government

Spent the day supporting a volunteer kids sports league like any other Saturday.

There's nothing more for me to say to you.
You clearly don't want to have an open dialogue on why people feel the legitimate need to protest. The answer to all of your questions yes.

People disagree with the current administration and its views and positions. They will dissent when they feel it necessary,
They are doing so peacefully. Today in LA 750, 000 protesters ZERO arrests.

All things you've listed are things you disagree with us. Not reasons why people shouldn't express their first amendment rights.

You identified no specifics on the blanket accusations you made regarding these positions. And when challenged you still didn't. You are being spoon fed these talking points by the media and taking them as fact. I encourage you to actually research each if the things you mentioned and see for yourself.

It's an open dialogue when discussing your beliefs and arguing when people disagree with your beliefs. Got it.

i just went and listened to Ashley Judd's entire speech.

wow. i feel sorry for her.

i'm sorry you think Trump somehow owes it to you to change his policies when his policies are what got him elected. how dare you and your 750,000 friends? Trump owes it the people that elected him President to follow through with his campaign promises.

the country had 8 years of hope and change. the people didn't like it.

This is a thread shaming "fat" and "ugly" women. I spoke up to only to say that there were hundreds of thousands of real Americans with valid beliefs protesting. Included amongst those women were many many sexually desirable females, as if that somehow makes their opinion more important to you.

Additionally, I have folks here calling me names just for voicing this. A person two posts above accuses me of being gay, as if it's a thing I would be ashamed of. I'm not but it's not.

the ones wanting spirited debate in this thread are just fine. I don't have to defend my beliefs. We don't have to agree on what I'm protesting only that you agree that I have the right to do so. It's America.

Additionally I'd add again, my life rules. I have ZERO complaints personally. I live a charmed life.

But the ones ridiculing their fellow Americans for their beliefs and activism and even worse their looks? These women don't get to say what they think because you find them sexually unattractive or unavailable?

Disagree with their views? Fine. I'm good with that.

But for everything else just look at the title of the thread. And then look in the mirror.

This is the problem. The people? Who? You? The people is EVERYONE?

Obama is leaving the White House with stellar approval ratings.

Trump won the White House while losing the popular vote?

Why does his presidency have to be a uniform painting with one brush? It's ridiculous.

Trump speaks for AMERICA? Except for the majority of people who disagree with him.

He won. That's fine. But we get to have a say in how this country is run too.
