Social Q #2: Calling a store to see if they carry an item, then going to get it

Do you find it weird to report to a store after asking if they carry an item?
In some cases I feel awkward to call them and ask them specific questions if they carry a part or an item, and then show up 15 minutes later looking for it.
I guess the whole situation can be avoided if I introduce myself saying that I just called about "part A" and then they can help me find it in the store and everything.
There are sometimes where I don't do that.
Never did this occur in me getting a call back saying that a man just came in and bought their last part and they can order it, however.
I just think it's weird how inconsistent I am in this when arriving at the store. And the not telling them is what makes it feel awkward. Almost like I have to wait an hour before arriving not to be linked to that phone call.

Stop being a dork and you wouldn't have to worry about being a dork.
And no it's not weird.

The cashiers at the store really don't care that much about you or your purpose for being there. Way overthinking this.

Mental illness is a serious thing, there are people that can help you.

I don't normally like to RA but you're really pushing your fricking luck right now.

I just realized Home Depot online will tell you if they have it, and what isle and bin.

It's better than calling a store and asking the clerk who picks up "are you open today?"

When I worked at sprint during college, we would always lie and tell the person yes we had the new iphone in stock that just came in. It was pure joy to see the disappointment in peoples faces when they came in and we were sold out.

Brah, Lafawnda behind the counter really doesn't care about this. Just hurry up and pay and leave.

Pectus, this is proof that you are 200% more socially awkward IRL than on this board.

I pray for the soul of the first victim you take.

Says the guy who steals my joke punchlines after I've already delivered them and posts them as his own dumbed-down version.

Nah I just turn the thoughts off and on at random. I'd say 90% of the time it wouldn't be an issue because I'd be cordial.
But that 10% for some reason I tip-toe around wanting to talk to people and then that could be an issue.
It has never been a problem, but one day it will be.
You guys are reading way too much into this...
I think there's someone out there that has to have felt a tad of what I've felt (which, again, is a tad).

yeah I'm gonna have to disagree with you on that one pectus. You posted something about jacking off on a dude and I asked you about it.

Highly inaccurate- have gone many times to pick up items only to be told they don't have it...

What? In order to save time you call a start to ask if they have a part, if they say yes you go to the store and buy it.. And that makes you feel awkward?
Ive called stores before to ask if they have something and if they say yes I just go get it without even telling them I called.
I'll even ask where an item is, if I don't know where its located, before even going look for it. I don't understand this situation.
