its a temporary escape from reality for a lot of active drinkers.
A LOT of good advice to be had there but its just spliced together from stuff they've already heard. Catch'em in a brief moment of clarity and they'll sell you a dream.

It was for my first marriage. That's why I laughed. It's so fricking pathetic how men (primarily) can be convinced that they are not supposed to go to the bar for happy hour or meet the guys anymore when married. Not saying that it's okay to leave mama at home with the kids. But you get the idea.

In 12 months of sobriety, I've had a good portion of friends fade away. I've also made new friends and have become a more stable and happy person. Friends that have a relationship with you besides activities based on a shared habit will stick around.

Remember younglings, don't do like Uncle Fr33 did. Stay home with your wife at night. That way she'll only cheat on you during work hours.

GF doesn't drink. Before we started seeing each other she rarely went out. Even at 25 she's constantly being pressure to drink and "live a little". We met through our respective jobs.
She had a handful of close friends at that point, have only gone up by default because of me.
