Try some edibles. You won’t be able to say you’re “sober”, but you also won’t wake up in a strange vehicle with no pants and no idea how you got there.

direction. I had 190 days total and a month drinking since the summer. I have a hard time for some reason around the 100 day mark give or take 10 days

That’s nothing to be ashamed about. That’s a hell of a run and something to build on. It sounds like you know when you’re at your weakest, now just gotta find the right help for that time period. Best of luck to you sir and I’m glad you are seeking help.

Relapse is a part if the illness.. Keep coming back. No judgment.. No embarrassment.
If you don't have a sponsor... Who has a sponsor... And you are not working the steps with that sponsor... you will have a tough time...
Do 90 meetings in 90 days.
Get a healthy Sponsor.
Work the Steps.
Your BEST shot at Sobriety...

One Day at a Time..its not just a slogan.

Also, my sponsor recommended I keep a journal, just what was going through my head throughout the day.

Yes. A journal is amazing. I've studied much of the founding fathers and reading their journals is awesome. Really have them a place to hash out things they were struggling with. Helped them clear the trash and give them a fresh mind with which to tackle the world.

John Adams went through mutiple bouts of an illness that he worked through in his journal. His wife couldn't always be with him and he leaned heavily on her. When. He didn't have her he wrote extensively.

Good luck OP. Get to writing.

What’s up bro? 4.5 years sober here and work in the field. Own some sober houses and such. Maybe try treatment. That’s what worked for me and so many others. Where you located at?

Whoo boy.

I was tempted as my wife has a bottle of wine that looked pretty darn good a few nights ago, but I know one drink and I am throwing it all away again.

Check yourself in a weekend dryout place or hospital. You know what lies ahead if you keep drinking...

If people in AA are giving you a hard time about relapsing, find a diff group bc they shouldn’t. People frick up. I did for a long time. Some people on here know me and I was bad off. Homeless, shooting heroin every day stealing from everyone. Today I’m a new person. Have a beautiful daughter, just got married to a beautiful woman (no pics) have all my relationships back. It gets better. And I’ve been right where you’ve been. Email me username at gmail and I’ll gladly assist in any capacity.

Truth. But it gets old after a while. At some point you gotta draw that bigass line in the sand and stay there.

Not joking about the mushrooms. There is a lot of recent evidence and research that it can rapidly help overcome cravings for drugs and alcohol. Hike or trail run. Get some fresh air and sun daily. Meditation. Best of luck to you!

That’s what we do.

Drink and/or drug.

I’ve relapsed twice after 18 months.

Nothing wrong with starting over.

Either its the most important thing and you will admit loss of control and no clue on how to get your life in order, or you just are not ready.

This is key. I have 4.5 years sober and I have to remind myself many times a week that ONE, just ONE drink, and it's over with. I lose all control and I'll be shite hammered within hours, jail within days. Maybe I'd get lucky and get to drink for a week without jail, but it wouldn't matter because I wouldn't remember most of it.

Think it through. Remember how that 'just one or two' made you feel so depressed, desperate, and demoralized that you reached out to message board and bared your soul to strangers to put in writing how alone, discouraged, and lost you feel right now.

I'm not saying that above to pick on you, it's because I've been there. I've made a similar post on here one time and within days I was in rehab.

That feeling of waking up after a binge and my entire world haven been shaken up like a snow globe and there was absolutely nothing I could do about it helps keep me sober.

It's all sounds like such a cliché, but the only say I have in the matter is that first drink. If I give in to that, I give the control of life to Lord Alcohol and shitty things almost always happen immediately afterwards. Keep the controller in your hand. Everyday.

AA isn't for everyone, I get that. But sometimes you have to get away from life to be able to get control back of the situation and reset everything. If you're a daily drinker of the blackout sort, like I was, you need to seriously look into a inpatient facility.

I wish you all the luck in the world. Pray your arse off and ask for help. You'll need it. Only people that have felt that feeling you feel in your gut right now truly understand the utter demoralization that a binge brings upon us and riddles us with depression and anxiety.

Here's the deal - start over.

I got sober for the 1st real time in 1985. I thought I had it under control and started up again in 1994. It did not go well.

I do not consider those 9 years as wasted. I learned. You have learned, too, from your time sober. Build on that.

By the Grace of God I got sober again in November 1995. I remember those first 9 years and my time back out drinking. But the only day that matters is today.

While I wish you luck, all the luck in the world will not help you unless you put in the work to stay sober. Just do it.

This hits home for sure, I’m not a blackout type drinker more of a 10-18 beers a day drinker. Start early to get rid of the hangiety and go from there. What’s funny is when I was sober I specifically remember driving past stores before lunch to buy beer and remember how ridiculous that was. That’s the point I’m working to get back to.

Lots of good info here.
I got sober in 2012. Life has been great since.
One thing I have to have is the personal aspect. People. Fellowship. Sponsor. Meetings.

If you want a personal aspect, shoot me an email and we’ll exchange numbers.

Find a path of spirituality

Find people to hold you accountable

Pray and meditate

Review your day and find where you were selfish dishonest self seeking and fearful

Try to be a better person the next day

Go out of your way to be of service at least one time a day

This is a very vanilla way of how I got sober... of course we can dig deeper but these principles have kept me sober for three years... well three years in like four hours
