Fell off the wagon right before Christmas,I hate asking for help, but here I am. Anyone on here ever helped an alcoholic? I know a few, Mr Clean has been sober a long time and several others, hoping someone like that could push me in the right direction. I had 190 days total and a month drinking since the summer. I have a hard time for some reason around the 100 day mark give or take 10 days. Tired of the merry go round. TIA and being the OT, please let the dvs commence! I actually deserve them

I found a meeting yesterday met a guy that’s been 15+ years sober and we got a chance to visit for a while. Plan on meeting or talking daily, so a prayer was answered! Thanks to all for the incredible advice and support, means more than y’all know. I woke up feeling great this morning. Baby steps, but steps nonetheless.

If AA isn't working for you, look up SMART Recovery for a different perspective. CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) based as opposed to faith-based in AA.

Good luck man. Hit the gym. Find something else, more healthy, to take the place of drinking.

Also, though not healthy, I found smoking a cigar helps.

Not a recovering alcoholic here but you should not beat yourself up over this. Congratulations on the good run before falling off. Put it down and get back on the wagon. You will be happier there.

I actually tried the zoom meeting today couldn’t get it to load. I’m going to try again tomorrow. I’ve been to AA but it’s been several years and ours aren’t going on in my area apparently unless online

I had 5 years sober, made it 3 months into quarantine before falling off the wagon. Got a solid sponsor and aa and have been good since. They are doing virtual meetings on zoom.

If aa doesn’t work, therapy is a big help too, getting out and just going on 20’minute walks helps. Covid has been hard on people with addiction issues. Lots of people falling off the wagon. Don’t beat yourself up about it. Just take it one day at a time.

Anyone who downvotes OP for this is a dick.

This is why I like SMART. There is no stigma for "falling off the wagon". Setbacks are assumed and not stigmatized. The important part is to use the tools to identify what you did wrong and change the behavior without beating yourself up over it.

That sounds good because I never figured how shitty I’d feel falling off the wagon but for people that don’t know, it feels like you let down everyone you know especially yourself

Just lost an old friend to the booze.

If you made it 190, you can make it one more, and then one every day after that.

Good luck, baw.

Seriously though, had an ex I put in LaHa Hunt and then Solutions Dallas. It was eye opening. You're not abnormal in your failure. You just can't keep looking at it as failure. You've proven you can go x days. Now, you have to beat that goal. Then, kick it's arse. Doesn't matter what you do, just stay busy and focus. Vipassana Meditation may even help. Just don't give up. Write down what you have to lose by giving in.

If you want to check it out, go here

They also have zoom meetings several times a week, to include beginners meetings, meetings for loved ones, specialty addictions, etc.

Get your hands on some Psilocybin mushrooms and learn about micro dosing

Also, my sponsor recommended I keep a journal, just what was going through my head throughout the day. When you get the urge to drink you write it down (after talking to sponsor and not drinking) and then you can figure out what triggered it.
